Honest question
Does anybody really want to see a rematch? Fellow BSDers, what is the sentiment in other parts of the country (minus the SEC territory)? Most people I know have no interest in the game.

Agreed
This is like the MLB Subway Series couple years back; outside of NY, no one cared about it and the ratings were terrible.
You know ESPN is going to pimp the hell out of this too

I have no interest..
I already know LSU is the better team.

The game is going to be one for the ages
With both of those coaches given over a month to prepare we’re going to see something special. I ultimately believe that Alabama is the better team and will win the game, but regardless its going to be a much closer match-up and better game than and LSU beat down of OK. State would have been.
Everyone has their chance to play for the MNC. Had OK. State just taken care of business against a vastly inferior Iowa State they’d have their shot. That’s the current world of CFB.
If Alabama beats LSU
6-3, then what has been proven? Do we have a Duck Duck Goose match to the death to pick which team is better?
Unless Alabama wins in a blow out they haven’t proven to me that they deserve the BCS Championship anymore than LSU.

By Definition,
If Alabama beats LSU in the National Championship game, they deserve to be national champions regardless of what happen in the regular season.
You’re giving two great coaches over a month to prepare for this game. If Alabama beats LSU in a neutral site with the month to prepare they deserve to be crowned MNC.
I’m in no way defending the current BCS process and personal believe in an 8 team playoff, but the way the current system is set-up I believe they got this right.
LSU is playing a home game..
that is not a neutral site.

I disagree...
if Oklahoma State were Oklahoma, they’d be playing for the mNC. Also, they “missed” a field goal against Iowa State that may have been good.

If I'm being honest...
I rarely have that much interest in the national championship unless we’re in it.
It’s funny, because I couldn’t care less about pro football for most of the year. As a fan of the game I watch some, but I don’t care at all. College is a different story. However, at the end of the college year, I always find myself completely apathetic to about 98% of the games. At the end of the pro year I actually start to pay a little bit of attention and start to “buy-in” more (even if I have no real reason to care about the teams).
This is the number one reason I support a playoff system. It helps ensure a fair and more exciting ending. And as long as those playoffs are still kept to a reasonable number of teams, it doesn’t make the rest of the college season meaningless.
If the Alabama-LSU rematch came at the end of an 8-team playoff, I think it might be a really exciting game because they had both clearly earned their way there. In fact, at that point, it being a rematch might even make it more exciting. As it stands, most people feel like we’ve already seen this game (and people were complaining then that it wasn’t exciting to boot) and would rather see someone else who had also arguably earned the chance to take a shot at the NC.
I have interest,
but only to root for Alabama to win 9-6 in overtime and watch the world implode afterwords.
WE'RE DANCIN!!!
Good Ol Dickie V was on this morning
talking about how rediculous the coaches poll is. “How do coaches have the time to watch these games enough to form an opinion? How can you expect these guys to be unbiased? Most of the time the poll is given to some underling to attend to.”
You know who gave his vote away becasue he thought is was BS – JVP.

Actually
he gave his vote away because he needed to spend more time on the cover-up

I thought he tried to split a vote three ways or something, and the poll just took him out of the voters' pool

I thought he stopped voting
after the Auburn thing in ‘04. He voted for Auburn when the coaches have to vote for the winner of the mNC. At least that’s what I thought was the story.

As I remember the story goes...
He wrote in 2 (or more) teams, including Auburn, into the slot for the title game.
Who ever runs the poll called him and said “You can’t do this” and he said “I don’t care” and he hasn’t done it since.

“A couple of years ago I got kicked off the voting for the coaches poll because I refused to vote for anybody but Auburn,” Paterno said, referring to the 2004 Auburn squad that finished 13-0 and No. 2 in the polls. “Auburn was undefeated and I thought they played a tough schedule.”
Paterno said he got phone calls from the Football Coaches Association and coaches-poll sponsor USA Today trying to enforce a rule that the coaches were mandated to vote in the final poll for Southern Cal because the Trojans had won the designated Orange Bowl title game against Oklahoma. Paterno, who had voted Auburn No. 1 going into the bowl games, stuck with that vote when the Tigers beat Virginia Tech in the Sugar Bowl.
“I refused (to change his vote), so I don’t vote any more,” Paterno said.
Linkage
At the beginning it sounds like he got kicked out and at the end it sounds like he chose not to vote anymore. However it went down, he took a stand on what he thought was right.
