Wow, BSD reader KxRussell is doing more and more wrestling work this season.  He's been moderating open threads on TheOpenMat.org, and doing a good bit of blogging there as well.  Here he's got an awesomely entertaining interview with Ed Ruth.  Check out these gems for samplers:

1) Ed, at what age did you start wrestling? Allen from PA
I was about 8. I saw it on TV, the WWF thing. I was like OK so climb up on those ropes. I was really into contact sports & being really aggressive. I was like “Mom can I go do that?” & she said “Yea!” So she took me out to practice. I was like “What the HELL is THIS?” Everyone was just grappling & grabbin each other. I was looking for the mask & the tights, the colorful underwear, the boots!
Could we see that one day still?
(Laughs) Ha ha Nah! Wrestling has turned me away from that!

8 In the room, with whom do you drill with the most? OF from NY
I honestly don’t know the answer to that question because there is so much you can take from everybody actually.  I wrestle Cael all the time. I get beat but it is good to know that you can have someone you can go hard against. If you are better then everyone in the room or if you don’t have any coaches to wrestle, you become stagnant & you don’t get any better. If I have Coach Cael to wrestle against then I have something I can measure myself against like “can I actually get in my shot on him?” I get better because of it. Coach Casey or Cael, actually tell you, “I am gonna pin you with THIS” & then they actually do it! (laughs) At least you know you can defend those moves if someone else tries it! I do wrestle Quentin a lot.
