Computing QB Efficiency
Excellent post from a Cal blog about computing QB efficiency and the means to do it. Personally, I still prefer the NFL formula, even if it's a better measure of the effectiveness of a team's passing game than it is a measure of how the QB played.
As if you didn't know: neither McGloin or Bolden played extremely well last year.

This guy seems to have the right idea.
Incorporating rush yards into his ‘QB score’ is a nice addition for college QBs. Rush yds probably moot for the NFL (except Vick and a few choice others).
So, QB score has Bolden above McGloin, despite McG having a better passer eff rating than RoBo? Redzone offense (whether playcalling or RoBo’s play) probably directed more TD’s to McG hence the eff boost but not QB score…but no stats to back this up, and heading to work!
This is another measure, sure
but is it any better? That’s debatable. I do like how it addresses deficiencies in the QB efficiency ratings, but it leaves out some other valuable information.
