Well, it looks like the Dechellis story has taken BSD by storm (thanks Eddie D for giving us something to talk about during the doldrums of the offseason!), so I'll throw some fuel on that fire, too. While reading comments here and speaking with other PSU fans, I keep running into two answers for the following question: How do we make PSU basketball better? The first asnwer being the Admin, the second the fanbase.
1) Admin- This argument has been well documented over the past few seasons. The attitude of the admin appears to be that as long as the pumpkin pushers are making us money, why spend more on coaches, facilities, you name it. Therefore, I keep hearing from many people that the admin's attitude about basketball needs to change for us to have a chance at becoming a respectable program. I can admit that basketball seemed to be a second class citizen during my time at UP. I can remember a lot of people thinking it was pretty funny that I had 4 years worth of season tickets for our basketball team. Which leads me to option number 2...
2) The fanbase- Why put money into a program that doesn't matter to its fanbase? It may be a valid point. Football is king, and there is no denying that. But, does that mean that our fans are too laissez-faire to deserve quality hoops? I have heard some people say that until the fans stand up and demand change, the admin is not at fault. It is up to fans to fill the BJC first, then they can have the right to demand more of the AD's office.
BSD, enlighten me with your opinions!
