Discussion of the Traffic Logistics Surrounding Pegula Ice Arena
Short story from the CDT discussing some of the traffic logistics that may need to be resolved as part of the planning/building process of the Pegula Ice Arena. Issues discussed included the need for additional turn lanes, and the loss of 227 staff/faculty parking spaces. Further discussion was tabled until August, when the finalized study should be ready.

Parts of this story don't make sense
Why does the Park Ave interchange with US-322 and I-99 need to be studied again because of the ice arena?? That won’t generate even one tenth of the traffic that a football weekend does. About the only thing in need of studying is where to have everyone park, particularly if there’s a hockey game on the same night as an event at the BJC, and maybe making a new entrance to that parking lot from University Dr, since the current one’s going away.
If they really want to improve traffic congestion before/after games, the PSU traffic cops should be taught a few things about proper traffic control. Seriously, how they manage and direct traffic is pretty awful and leads to more congestion, I’m convinced.
Let's Go State!
Because the township is obsessive?
It sounds like a lot of this is just the township covering their bases to make sure there are no hidden problems. There might be a few changes/issues to deal with (like the “nine” turn lanes), but it sounds like the committee knows what needs to be done and doesn’t really expect anything surprising from the study.
Of course it is happening inside your head, Harry, but why on earth should that mean that it is not real?
