Once again, I'm asking for your help, loyal readers of Black Shoe Diaries. After suffering through a keg of PBR at a party this weekend, and taking into consideration that I'm approaching the (GASP!) 30yo mark, I have made a decision that will alter my life, hopefully for the better.
I've decided to become a scotch drinker.
I've spent my entire alcohol-drinking life in the "beers only" camp, with slight situational frolics and detours to wine and liquor. But now I feel like a permanent change needs to be made.
Sure, I'll stick with beer where appropriate - tailgates, frat parties, baptisms. The rest of the time, though, the plan is to chase the brown dragon.
However, there is a catch. I posed this revelation to some close friends, and they all told me to switch to bourbon, not scotch. Having never developed a taste for any of these drinks, I'm admittedly green on all things scotch/whiskey/bourbon.
So here I am, hat in hand, asking for your advice. I'm sure there are scotch drinkers out there, and I'm sure there are bourbon/everything else drinkers out there. What should I do? Which liquor will steer me right until I make another switch later in life (prune juice?)? And where should I start my endeavors?
Thank you, and stay thirsty, my friends...
