Speaking to the media in Chicago Friday morning, Joe Paterno mentioned that 3rd string quarterback, redshirt freshman Paul Jones is likely out for the 2011 season. The reason? Academics. Mentions of Jones' academic struggles have been floating around the Internet for a while now, and it is looking as though the rumor has turned out to be true.
What this means for Jones' future at Penn State beyond the 2011 season is unclear, but it seems that it is going to be a long time before the Blue-White game hero from 2010 sees any meaningful time on the field. As always, we wish Jones the best on and off the field.
