See?
I told you’uns we should only recruit players from the 717.
"Nein, ich bin Schnappi das kleine Krokodil."
Isn't his father the tennis coach there?
My guess is more in that he wasn’t going to get decent playing time because we have recruited pretty well on the OL lately and these others are passing him on the depth chart???

We let him transfer to Pitt?
I thought PSU had a strict no transfer to Pitt thing?
Oh well, he’ll probably start there because Pitt is absolute shit and <3’s leftovers.

Pitt
Isn’t on the schedule for a few years, and he’ll be gone before we play them.
Besides, I highly doubt one offensive lineman not named Orlando Pace is going to be a difference maker to the point that we can’t let him go home.
Now if it was Bolden to Michigan State…that’s a different story.
Yeah, but I thought Penn State had a no Transfer to WVU, Pitt, or Maryland rule
coulda sworn I read that somewhere, but judging by what’s going on, that seems like it’s wrong.

Sounds correct - but it's up to the coach to waive, no?

Pittsburgh media myth. The Marks kid transferred to Pitt, no problem
I’m sure Joe takes each case individually and there are some players he won’t let transfer to certain schools but there is no blanket policy.

Yeah, but he sucked too.
He quit Pitt….he quit PSU. So it can’t be that both schools/programs/coaches were bad…it was Marks who was bad.
I believe it does

He must suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuk.
There is no way they let a kid of out a scholarship to got Pitt unless he is worse than me.
I've decided that it is a legitimate possibility that the Pirates might be decent.

If that's the case, why give him what he wanted?
They must think he is totally useless. Like less than a paperweight useless to let him go to Pitt.
I've decided that it is a legitimate possibility that the Pirates might be decent.
Oh, I don't know.
Joe’s a smart old Italian. I have a pretty good hunch that granting a wish to go to Pitt is an insult that only the smart will recognize.

How did the last OL transfer to Pitt work out?
Josh Marks? Oh , he never made a “mark” at Pitt. Quit them too, I believe.
No, I think it's because PSU doesn't play Pitt regularly.
What other reason could there be???
That he suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuks.

I was just messing from an exchange earlier today on a post.
I think you’re right. For them to release him to Pitt has to mean they don’t think highly of him at all.
I think it’s funny. A lot of the Pitt fanbase (insert “Pitt fanbase size” joke here) brutalized this kid when he chose PSU. Now what are they gonna say about him???
I believe he was in his 2nd year of school.
Not sure if he redshirted last year or not. So he’ll have 2 or 3 years left after sitting out this year.

Dad was good OL for sPitt.....
Shocked that he picked US over them, but he must really suck that Joe let him go. You don’t really miss someone you never really had, eh?
"The truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth, so help me God." The Government is like the Mob, you can check out, but never leave.
He was good for Pitt, but terrible for Pittsburgh (Steelers).
They drafted him in the first round the year they had 2 first round picks. Both were busts….Tim Worley was the other.
Worley’s problem was he was on drugs; Ricketts, I suspect, was that he was not, or no longer to be more specific. I think he was a roid boy in college, but had to cut back or quit once he hit the pros due to the testing. Same thing happened to Mandarich.
My buddy, and old college roommate, is buddies now with old man Ricketts. He works for some company that does business with Consol (where my buddy works) and he deals with him a lot via work. They also golf together. He said old man Ricketts is pretty cool.
Pretty much what I know of him too....
I still wonder why the kid came to Happy Valley. Gawd, Tim Worley! There’s a name from the past. A bust is putting it mildly.

As memory serves...
…not only was he a bust, but he was “busted”!
Derry…what’s the scoop on your Jeannette boy this year – Cox? Word is he’s pretty good. PSU has offered – any chance he accepts? Is he alright or a goofball like Pryor??
I'm working on some.....
background now…should know more about character issues in a few weeks. I will be checking with some of my sources for updates. As long as he doesn’t pull the douchebag routine that TP used, at least there is a shot. WE may still be too country for some of these kids.

Old Man Ricketts.
Back in my day, when I played with Speedy McEngels, Shorty Miller, Frackville Faczmarek, and Dashin’ Dex Very, I once got tackled by Old Man Ricketts when we was playin’ at Forbes Field against the Pantheroos. They was called the Pantheroos at that time, a weird sort of rebellious thing you’uns who didn’t fight in the Great War – the War to end all Great Wars – wouldn’t know about. Anyhow, Old Man Ricketts made me see Calvin Coolidge dancing above my head! I went to see one of them talkin’ pictures years later, with Jimmy Cagney and Humphrey Bogart and all of them guys, and when Jimmy Cagney punched some guy, boy, it sure did remind me of Old Man Ricketts. Anyhow, my head fell off just like what always happened to good ol’ Speedy. And just like Speedy, they just plopped it back on my neck. And look at me, I’m fine! And thm kids at BHGP, they whine when Pat Vint calls ’em stupid! Damn kids!
Old Man Ricketts died in the Depression as a hobo. Speedy McEngels died of the old Irishman’s disease – starvation! Shorty Miller died, but not until after he taunted Woody Hayes – and lived to tell about it. I don’t know what quite happened to Frackville Faczmarek, but, like all NEPA men, I guess he probably died in the Centralia Mine Fire. Dashin’ Dex Very existed, but his real nickname was probably cooler. And me, I live on, sharing cheap, bad humor with you’uns.

At least Mandarich worked hard after his intial bust stage.
I’m pretty sure he ended up having a nice career with the Colts when all was said and done.

You're right, he did have a nice career.
He never lived up to his hype, but he had a good career.
I recall when
‘Boz’ and Tony Mandrich pretty much dominated Sports Illustrated/ABC/NBC/CBS on all things reported CFball…
