Alex Mateas Leaves Football Team
This is the time of year we're supposed to be adding kids via recruitment, not losing them due to injuries/transfers.
Alex was a Class of 2010 commit who had allegedly made it to second team this fall and was poised for good things. The scuttlebutt is back injury, but nothing is confirmed as of yet. Stay tuned for more news as this story develops.

Thanks for the “heads up”. We need some good news..like a top recruit committing.
Hopefully this is an injury that can be rehabbed and we’ll see some of him later. He was an interesting recruit (being from Canada and all). Certainly had the right measurables. I was keeping a “squinted” eye out for his progress.
I used to be indecisive. Now I'm not sure.

There was some good news the other day: Szczerba is likely back for his senior year at TE
we could definitely use the depth there, and he gets to have a senior season after having back surgery on a apparent slipped disc that was pressing on a nerve in his back causing him constant pain. I forget where the interview was, but apparently he’s been cleared to play.

this is very good news
I like the potential of the young TEs, but if Szczerba can come back anywhere close to where he was before the back problems, it could be a significant boost for the offense.

Khamrone Kolb?
I asked this too late in the offense preview thread to get an answer, but with Mateas and Ricketts out, what’s the word on redshirt frosh OL Khamrone Kolb? Haven’t read anything at all about him since he signed.
He and Arcidiacano look to be the players that stand to benefit most from Mateas leaving.
They are reportedly taking reps with the twos, but I’m not sure who is where on the depth chart at the moment.
