Around SBN: Win or Lose, Boston Celtics' New Big 3 Era A Success

According to this report, Rutgers has been speaking with the B1G, and rumor has it they would jump at the first offer from either the B1G or ACC.

Jumping at the first offer

Rutgers would be beyond dumb not to jump at the first offer of a lifeboat off the Big East ship, which is a raging inferno and sinking rapidly. I’d be fine with the B1G picking up Rutgers, but only if Notre Dame comes first.

On a related note, I have to imagine that Notre Dame has had a standing offer from the B1G for many years now. But the B1G won’t expand any further unless Notre Dame decides to join at long last, I firmly believe that.

I don't know

if Rutgers has good reason to believe the Big Ten will offer, but the ACC offers first, would they take it? They potentially could make more money with the Big Ten.

The ACC

is supposedly holding a spot open for ND. I think the ACC wants UConn before Rutgers. As for your question maybe if given an offer by the ACC first Rutgers gives the B1G a chance to match so to speak. But Rutgers is not turning down the ACC in hopes of a B1G offer sometime in the future.

As an NJ resident I want Rutgers in the B1G; they would probably be in our division and thus give me an extra game in person every other year.

100% Agree

Being from NE PA, it’d be great to finally have a regional rival they played every year so we could take reasonable road trips to away games.

I thought Rutgers, academically speaking, wasn't Big Ten material?
