Stephfon Green is in a little legal trouble
Penn State running back Stephfon Green charged with furnishing alcohol to minors
That's from the CDT
That explains it -- I wonder if he was buying for teammates. I could see Joe Paterno being very displeased about that if it were the case. At least we have some clarity on that matter and it wasn't, as speculated by no one, a Brooklyn vs. Bronx thing. Which reminds me, Joe is just a really big hipster, just way ahead of his time. Is that enough words?

It's Quite Obvious That Joe Is A Hipster
Considering that he knew about Green’s arrest way before everyone else did

I really hate this picture and the concept behind it.

I think it was meant as a tribute
ironic, right?

Although I disagree with what he did,
I can’t say I haven’t done it myself.
Thing did get blown out of proportion though.
Take the money right in front of the liquor store,
give the bottles to the kids right out in front of the liquor store?

Party busted, and you're the only 21 year old there?
(I’ll admit I have furnished minors, but only ones I trusted not to try to drink themselves to death, and it’s usually just beer, so chances of that happening are very low)

And I'm usually at the party
so if somebody is really hitting it hard, I go all “Catcher in the Rye” on them and make sure they’re ok. I’m such a pussy like that.

Have you ever wondered....
….why it is that despite the fact that Joe Paterno is from Brooklyn, Penn State’s uniforms seem to be deliberately pattern after the Yankees?

Either way..
the Brooklyn dodgers were blue and white too. Though I think PSU’s navy is closer to Pinstripe navy.
But I think in terms of style, I remember reading that Joe used to go to Yankee games and was impressed without how “business” they looked while winning. Players were well kempt and professional looking – he wanted that for his players too.

Fufkin is correct
One of his coaches took him to the World Series (probably game 1 or 3 in 1943) and pointed out how the Yankees were wearing well-tailored, clean, pressed uniforms and shined shoes. The Cardinals on the other hand were sloppily dressed. According to the story, the Yankees won that day and the impression was made on Paterno.
Joe also mentioned in his autobiography that the Dodgers should have never left Brooklyn.
The colors are a coincidence of course.

Yeah but
back in the day the original colors for PSU were Pink and Black. They both faded and ended up being Blue and White. The colors were changed to Blue and White 1890, so maybe Joe remembers that…he’s been around that long, right?
"Illegitimus non Carborundum!" (Don't let the bastards wear you down)
funny misconception
the colors were indeed pink and black, but they didn’t fade to blue and white. per The Penn State Football Vault, the student body voted to change the colors, so in 1890 they did. The rest is a good, interesting myth.

According to the PSU website,
our blue is officially dark royal blue. I had to look this up not too long ago.

Used to watch a band called the Hipsters years ago on Thursday nights at The Brewery.
They served beer in mason jars. I remember the Hipsters left for a while to cut an album in California.
They seem to have held true to their name
because I’ve totally never heard of them before.

I'm not surprised.
This is all I could find on the internet regarding them. Perhaps you’re familiar with Chuck’s Farm (I’m not).
Chuck’s Farm began in 1983. A local band and one of Chuck’s favorites, The Hipsters, was scheduled to play at a small venue in downtown State College, but a few days before the show, the venue cancelled. Chuck decided he would host The Hipsters at his farm. He connected electricity to his barn, The Hipsters played and, essentially, Chuck’s Farm was born. In 1988, Chuck’s Farm became an annual 2- day campout festival, and has been going on ever since.
The release of this information just after Joepa reinstates him
Is not ideal timing.
What is the definition of a hipster? A hippy gone bad?
OH boy...
you’ve got a lot of fun googling ahead of you

Nah....a hipster is actually from....
the Beatnik era…..Joe is a hipster on two fronts: 1) He is hip and he has the gig and 2) both of his hips have had some orthopedic work done on them….and as far as I see it, Stephon has a very little chance to see any carries this year, so it’s his stupidity that’s ruined his Sr year. He IS a great kid and talented, BUT I think he screwed-up and despite Joe reinstating him because the team asked him, just may not help…we are pretty deep at RB(so far).
