Alabama - LSU lowest rated BCS Championship
Shocker. Nobody outside of the south wanted to see a rematch of a low-scoring, nap-inducing game on top of the self-fellating SEC advertisements.

There's something about
seeing all the SEC fans arguing about how “no one appreciates defense” and “great defense isn’t boring” that is supremely satisfying.
I appreciate defense
And I still didn’t watch. Heck, hard to appreciate anything if you don’t watch. The game could have been 99-87 and I still wouldn’t have cared outside of the absurdity of the final score

This will do more to limit the possibility of future rematches
than any of the bitching and moaning from fans ever could

I don't see how a single person could think this matter decided after last night
Then Mark May says something to the effect of “Bama’s the champion because when it mattered most, they won.” And here I thought that the game in November was supposed to have been for all the marbles. If it wasn’t, then why did [four letter acronym redacted] build it up as the game of the century?
Also, I didn’t watch the game, but heard the May clip this morning.

Would it be too much to also ask...
that the BCS just disappear entirely, replaced by a playoff system, and a much diminished slate of bowls.
Anymore, bowl season for football just feels like the entire season of hockey to me. I like the sport and would be happy watching a marquee game with my boys every once in a while even if I have no dog in the fight. However, the number of games practically ensures that my friends can’t agree on a marquee game to get together for, so I don’t get to personally connect with other fans over the games, and I end up just not bothering to watch any of them.
Not to mention having games at weird hours of the day and with no consistent schedule that can be counted on. Perhaps if the NCG were on a Friday or Saturday night, more people would make an event out of it (a la the Super Bowl). I actually only remembered the NCG was last night because I saw the thread on BSD… after the game was over. Bowls are over-saturation at its best… and I’m actually glad to see that almost ALL of them seem to be suffering because it is the only thing that will change the system.

good.
Outside the South, i think people are getting pretty tired of the SEC worship. This is good news.

I had ZERO interest in that game.
My interest in the champ. game has been waning for a few years now, but I still always had an interest. But I had absolutely no interest in watching that game. And I haven’t heard one person mention it today (at work). Just because ESPN tells us it matters doesn’t mean it really does (and it didn’t).
Also, the game starts too late. I know why…it’s all about money, but it sucks for me (a guy who gets up at 4:30). Not that it mattered because I didn’t want to watch it anyway, but still…
I watched “House Hunters” last night. I find that about a million times more interesting than the so-called national champ. game.
My sentiments exactly
House hunters isn’t a bad show, niether is house hunters international.

agree, no one brought it up at work today.
I got asked about the new PSU coach but nothing about the game last night. I proudly can say that I did not watch even a clip of the result. I only knew who one when MSN came up on my computer this morning. I haven’t read one article.
I just read.
I didn’t watch the pregame, the game itself, or highlights.
I kept up with the score periodically through Yahoo Sports (because screw ESPN) since I stood to win $60 in the office pool. Closest thing to a highlight I watched today was the .gif of Jordan Jefferson’s shovel pass of fail.
It warms my heart to know that a large portion of college football fans shared my apathy for this game.
Consider this my official declaration of non-support of child molestation.
I played NCAA 2012
You’ll be happy to know that as a middle linebacker I was player of the game in the Big10 championship game. Yes, I’m assuming that everyone finds that infinitely more interesting than last nights “BCS Championship”. Also, I’ve heard reports that it got better ratings. So there’s that.

I not only consider it infinitely more interesting...
…I consider your title more deserved.

I went snowboarding
then came home around 1015, turned the game on to see the score, saw it was 9-0, thought, “wow, so glad they decided to re-play this game” turned it off and went to bed.

I'm pretty sure
ratings would be been much better if Okie St. was in the game. I know I would have watched that. BCS gets what it deserves.

It was a multi-whammie...
NCG game would have gotten better ratings with LSU-Okie Lite.
Sugar would have gotten better ratings with Bama vs. VT or tSUN.
Fiesta would have taken a drop with Stanford vs. VT or tSUN.
Orange was doomed again.

and while I had no interest in the game last night
I would have watched all those games, especially if they were in a playoff format.
Heck I actually would have even watched a rematch of Alabama and LSU if it were in a playoff format (at least past first round game, and def champ game).

mid week games were not meant for major bowls with top matchups.
There are a lot of rich people making decisions about when to play these games without thinking that the majority of the college fans are not part of the top 5% wage earners and can pack up and take off work anytime. I also think they are really overestimating their product and TV exposure. People would rather have their fix on the weekend and leave the weeknights to their kid’s games and other normal life stuff. just my opinion
I just read.
Should have a rule that you have to win your conference.
The previous low (14.3), in 2002, featured Nebraska, which didn’t win its conference. LSU’s win over Oklahoma in 2004 featured a Sooners team that didn’t win its conference.

Goes hand in hand with being the most promoted regular season game of all time...
…seriously, that game got more promotion than most BCS bowl games.

Yeah, but a 13.8 in the SEC is like a 24.1 anywhere else.

Turns out
this was actually only the third-lowest. It had the lowest overnight ratings, but after all the data was compiled, the final rating was a 14.0, making it only more watched than the two other NCGs that featured teams that didn’t win their conferences.
