So, I wasn't the only one who saw a connection

"Still, the parallels are unmistakable. We both came to a Big Ten school to take over an iconic college program, shaken to its core. It wasn't just that Indiana basketball and Penn State football were reliable winners; beyond the success there was pride in a certain morality authority. We did things the right way. At least we thought we did. And when that was undermined, it rocked the entire institution. We both followed legends -- your case, directly -- may have left in disgrace but still had a lot of loyalists. We both came in as outsiders."

As the author points out, the parallels aren't perfect.
Nonetheless, there’s some good stuff in that article.

True
You would be hard pressed to find a parallel to Penn State’s situation anywhere.

Also, there haven't been penalties against the program and there's really no reason to suspect there will be
Looking at PSU’s roster and recruiting, this team really could, maybe should, be 7-0 when Ohio State comes to town next year. When Crean started, he had by far the worst talent in the B1G for a couple years.
GO IOWA AWESOME
UVa Lacrosse?
One of their men’s team murdered one of their women’s team. Straight up bludgeoned her.
Both teams’ players and at least the men’s coach could have maybe seen that the guy was mentally unstable and potentially abusive toward her. I’m not blaming them, but there were more red flags than there were with pre-2002 Sandusky.
Nobody has been fired. The programs continue to thrive. Nobody seems to be playing the woulda, shoulda, coulda game with them.
