My wife saw onFor The Glory of Old State that a candle light vigil will be held at 8:00 pm at The Statue. I can't be there for it, but I will be lighting a candle for Joe and his family in my home. I encourage everyone else to do the same.
I don't know where my life will take me, but I hope that I succeed in whatever I do. And I hope that I can meet that success with the same humility as Joe. He was larger than life in so many ways, but he was also so down to Earth. I played Frisbee and had cookouts at Sunset Park, only a few hundred yards from his modest home. That is probably what I will remember most about him: he could have lived isolated from us commoners, but he didn't, because he truly was a part of this family. He was a great man, but he was just like us. If he could do it, we all can.
