Thank You Mods.
I just wanted to take the time to thank all the moderators and everyone who has helped make this site possible. This site has become my refuge and I am truly grateful for this community. One line has stuck out to me throughout this whole process:
We have no interest in breaking this story, but will certainly have news updates when credible information is released, either by our own sources or by actual members of the Paterno family.
Stay strong, Coach.
This is not meant to be a knock on other sites, merely to show exactly what makes this site so wonderful. While most other sites are trying to be the first to break new stories, the mods here seem to wait until they have all the necessary information to publish the story. While this means they are not the first, it does mean they are the most trustworthy and complete. It's very refreshing to know that this site is a place I can go to get as much information as possible without any type of spin. You guys have done a truly amazing job, and it is greatly appreciated.
Aww, look at you. You created a Fanpost! Any content from a premium site that requires a subscription will be deleted once we catch wind of it. If you simply want to share a link, quote, or video, please consider using Fanshots instead. Thanks.

I’ve been a member of this site since it was run under the previous “management team” and for the past few years this has been the site that I use almost exclusively for all things PSU sports. It’s always felt like one big, slightly dysfuctional (I say that in a good way!) family, and has been a great place of refuge from the insanity of the last 2 months. The coverage of Paterno’s death just confirms how fantastic this site is!
"God is great, beer is good, and people are crazy"
I have to agree with everything youve said
Listening into our local coverage here in Buffalo just reaffirms why I came onto Black Shoe Diaries in the first place. I cant thank everybody enough.
Definitely agree.
Oustanding work guys – especially during the most trying times our university has ever seen. I’m certain you never imagined this when you signed up for this gig and you’ve all handled it well.
.....that which we are, WE ARE;
One equal temper of heroic hearts
Chris has taken a lot of flak
including some from myself. And though I think some of it in the wake of the scandal breaking and Paterno firing was deserved, the big picture is that he’s handled running this site through this incredibly difficult time about as well as anyone could reasonably expect. Chris can tell you that I’ve given him shit a few times for things he’s done or said that I didn’t appreciate, but really, I just wanted to commend him here.
You have never seen or heard him in national interviews (though I’m sure he’s absolutely been solicited many times) and there are many others who, in his position, would have tried to break stories or take a more divisive approach over the past few months for attention. So thanks to Chris and all the other moderators for keeping this a place where a lot of people who are passionate about the same thing can come and discuss things together.

Anyway, thanks right back to all of you.
It’s been one disaster after another, but just about everyone has held it together. We’re honored to serve.
I'm such a beginner ...
Please assist me, Chris: I need to know how to ask questions (is there a q&a place?). I’ve created a few FanPosts; however, not one will post. Always the msg says they are Blank. Not. Thank you.
When I stand before God at the end of my life, I would hope that I would not have a single bit of talent left, and could say, 'I used everything you gave me'.

Hmmm.
Well, Fanposts have to be 75 words. That could be the problem. Otherwise, just ask it in one of the threads, and someone will see it sooner than later.

Agreed....
Not only was the coverage appropriate but there was a true sense of community in the comment sections over the weekend.

I bet you guys couldn't have possibly imagined
when you took this site over what you’d have to be writing about. I mean, we’re just going to give our opinions on some football and basketball games, right?
What a long strange trip it’s been.
It's almost as if Old Mike knew something was about to happen.
He didn’t of course, but what a shitty seven months to have taken over this place.

I'd like to reiterate everything said above
and say thanks to everyone.
That which we are, WE ARE...PENN STATE.
Forever.
This site has handled the disaster with as much class and integrity as possible
Great work everyone.
Anyway, the flashlights eat our human power grids, our souls if you will. So i destroyed them, and if a few precious panties were burnt or soiled in the reckoning then so be it
They've handled it with the level of honor you would expect from Penn State.
Recent events aside, I believe that is about the highest compliment you can give. The class and integrity on this site makes me proud to be part of the Penn State community, and it also makes me confident that the legacy of ideals and values will live on as we continue to do things the right way.

Thanks guys
if you should ever wash the cheeto residue from your hands and venture out from your mothers basements, I’d gladly buy you a beer and shake your hands. Just as long as it doesnt have to happen in a public place.

It has certainly been very interesting.....
considering where and when I came along on this informative Blog…the path has often, more than not, a fair narrative and as an “old guy”, I appreciate the forum.

Agree wholeheartedly.
BSD is my go-to site for Penn State info, with a lot of good discussion on a wide variety of topics.
I've been downhearted baby, I've been downhearted baby, ever since the day we met . . .
This site is the best

As a BSD Rookie
I’m very grateful I found this forum. It’s been refreshing, to say the least, to find others keeping their heads when everyone else seems to be losing theirs. I don’t feel so alone any more…Thank you all!

It does
I used to have friends, a job and girlfriend. But now I live in my parents basement, unfinished and unfurnished, because I spent too much time on here.

you would think the z key, which makes it possible to breeze through a thread in probably 1/4 the time would end in spending less time on the site.
I think instead of cutting my daily time by 1/4 it actually multiplied it by 4

Thanks all
I’m not an active poster, nor am I a long-tenured lurker.
Can anyone give me some insight into the old mgmt team? What was different? Where they went?
Would agree with all sentiments above- it has been fantastic to have this resource for news. I have been able to avoid the WWL and still remain informed on my team. Thanks all!
"The Braves could use [Loney] at first base to help back up Freddie Freeman, and in return the Dodgers could get Tommy Hanson from the Braves."
The old team
was was led by BSD Mike who still posts from time to time. He did an excellent job, just like the current staff. Towards the end, though, his heart wasn’t into putting in the effort, so the blog was often carried by an undergraduate aspiring journalist who could use a few more years of worldy experience. Mike recognized that he wanted to do different things and they made a great transition to the current staff, some of who had formerly been writers and editors here.
I wouldn’t mind seeing a fanpost from BSD Mike of his current thoughts on everything at PSU.
Agree to your last sentence
“Old” Mike always had such rational, calm, and thought-provoking posts and comments. I would love to read his take on the last few months. Fire up the “old Mike” signal and get him out of his grotto!

Thank you, thank you
I’m not an alum and not much of a football fan, so if I hadn’t clicked through from another site, I never would have discovered BSD. I’ve returned regularly for information and thoughtful and insighful discussion. Many thanks to a great community!

Welcome, nps!
You will soon discover that a “football” thread will splinter into discussions of music, psychology, current events (NO POLITICS! — LOL), etc., etc.
Come back soon.

One More Huzzah...
I never visited sites like BSD until last fall. I was lucky to stumble across the site after Joe was fired and I was trying to find out what was going on (living in Central KY, we get plenty of sports news but about the wrong shade of blue). I have really appreciated the scope of the posts and the opinions from the posters and fans and especially the way that differing opnions are offered in a largely respectful manner. Even those of us who do not say much, or anything, have gotten to feel like we are still part of the Penn State community. Thanks for all you have done!
es. Living here in Central KY, I never got any news PSU until I ventured ‘..out of my mother’s basement’ and found a few good places to see what is going on. I have really appreciated BSD for the other perspectives on the events of the past few months. You have provided a sense of community for someone who isn’t prone to post, but interested in listening. I also appreciate the way you have cultivated a fairly respectful environment for disagreement when it happens. Thanks for your service to those of us in the Penn State diaspora!
