but its like 10 miles away. 2 towns over, Scranton, Old Forge, Duryea BOOM Pittston.
its down da line, but not as far as say edwardsville
Yeah,
but Pittston and Scranton are worlds apart in many ways. I’ve known people from both to have never been to either.

Atlantic City bread
tops Philly’s. You can put anything on that and it’s a great hoagie.

Agostini’s Bakery! And if you’re talking hoagies there’s nothing like Catalano’s in Wessside (west Scranton for the non-locals) home of Mr. Moxie. I go into that place and look around expecting to see Uncle Junior and some of his buddies hanging out.

A doctor here in VA
told me why the bread here sucks (doc is from Bucks Co)…it’s the difference in the glutens found in the water. So it effects alot more than just the bread, but the bread is what I mostly miss…..not a real hoagie to be found here because of it.

Duryea native here.
Sacred Heart was the church for the ethnic Germans, Holy Rosary for the Polish, and St. Johns for the Lithuanians. There weren’t as many Irish and Italians in Duryea but we were sandwiched in by the Italians in Old Forge, Taylor, Pittston and West Pittston.

Just out of curiosity, did JS show up to any of the events?
Just to reinforce my suspicions that the man simply cannot stay away from PSU
Isn't he under house arrest?
"Believe deep down in your heart that you're destined to do great things." Joseph Vincent Paterno 1926-2012
Correct
Legally JS cannot leave his house. The better question to ask is if Curley or Schultz attended any of the events.
Curley was there from what I've heard
he was a long-time family friend of the Paterno’s and I don’t doubt that it was important to him to attend this event. I also don’t think the family looks at him as a major villain.
"We gon' get down. We gon' do the do. I'm going to hit these mother****ers" - Dock Ellis, May 1, 1974.
This
Curley rode the blue bus with the family – seems they’re satisfied with his actions.
Anyone see Spanier on the family bus? No?

By the way
My seats had a great view of Urban’s face for the whole thing. Dude is a robot. He clapped most of the time during standing ovations, but for long portions of speeches he was scrolling his phone it looked like.
It’s funny, because from what I’ve heard, he really liked Joe. And there were a lot of lessons about family that I can’t imagine would have been lost on him…
"We gon' get down. We gon' do the do. I'm going to hit these mother****ers" - Dock Ellis, May 1, 1974.

Joe would have loved that as well
Bringing in the Greeks and their ideas about how to honor a man, probably not what he would have liked to hear, since he didn’t want to blame anyone or point fingers.
But the Greeks were right in how they honored great men, honor the actions, honor the deeds, honor everything about them, and do it as grand as the person themselves.

From business insider.com
Nike’s Phil Knight just talked about the elephant in the room at Joe Paterno’s memorial service — defending JoePa and saying the trustees are to blame for the Jerry Sandusky cover-up.
“If there’s a villain in this tragedy. It lies in that investigation, not in Joe Paterno’s response to it,” he said, which led to a standing ovation, Ben Jones reports.
He instead put the blame on the Board of Trustees.
“It leads me to this question: Who is the real trustee at Penn State University?”
“That old hero, he set a standard that will live forever.”
So there you have it. Joe Paterno is blameless and a hero and it’s all the trustees fault.

Oh, I Don't Know About That
I saw Phil Knight’s address and it hit me that he took dead aim at the university administration and the BOT. They should’ve known by a lifetime of examples of the man’s character that he would never knowingly further something as heinous as child abuse, nor would he engage in a witch hunt either. Just looking at his family would tell you that. Coach Paterno did what he felt was best under the circumstances, which was to be sure the allegation was duly reported, and then got out of the way and let the process go forward, lest the “Lord of Penn State” be accused of interfering with something so serious. For all he meant to and had done for the university, the BOT should have at least given him the benefit of that doubt. Instead, in the face of a media storm they panicked and acted selfishly, cowardly. I do not accept for a second their pleadings that they acted out of concern for the good of the university, for what they did was to rip out its heart, its very soul, and unleash a firestorm that did far worse damage. Only the good graces of Coach, his wife Sue, and his family helped lessen that wholesale bloodletting. Even in that tragic end, Coach gave one last measure of devotion to the place he loved so much. The stunning thing is I don’t think the BOT ever really understood just how much Joe was cherished by so many, or how much he came to symbolize what we all love about our alma matter and what it stands for. If they had, they would have found another way.

I So Wish I Could've been There
Please, if you see this and have a second, tell us a little something about what it felt like being there this afternoon…especially when Charlie Pittman, Phil Knight and the others spoke. Many thanks.
Random thoughts...
As we left BJC I looked at my wife and said, “What time is it?” She looked at her watch (yes, some people still wear them) and said 4:30. And we looked at each other and realized we had been sitting in there for two-and-a-half hours. And they were the shortest two-and-a-half hours of our lives. Every second you were totally absorbed in the moment. (OK, maybe not when Jay went off on his walking through the park, looking at the shadows on the twigs tangent). Choked-up, teary-eyed, barely breathing. Thousands of people sitting in BJC just being Penn State. It was an honor just to be there and to be a part of it.
There were a few times when it was quiet. Totally quiet. Just as it was during the funeral procession as the hearse passed. Yet you know there are thousands of people all around you. We were seated on the floor so the bowl effect was magnified looking up — especially into the second level — which for anyone who goes to BJC much is often covered partially or completely by black cloth.
When Sue came in we clapped. And clapped. And clapped. And frankly, I don’t know why we eventually stopped clapping, but I would have been fine if we just stood there for two hours and clapped for her — and Joe.
The Father who opened the memorial was unexpectedly good. As he walked to the podium I didn’t have any expectations, and although I can’t recall exactly what he said, it exceeded them by a distance. And it felt right.
Todd was OK. His recounting of Dick McGuiness felt the most real of all his words.
Charlie Pittman was good. Recollecting his recruitment, he and his son’s collective won-loss records AND academic all-american status, and finishing his speech the way he did — looking forward — that felt real. It felt like he was talking, not speeching.
Phil Knight — what can you say. He got off kind of slow, and when he hit his stride, well, I would have been fine clapping for an hour just to hear the CEO of Nike call out his business peers — the CEO’s of Merck, US Steel, and other exec’s. Those were some extremely high moments. And you definitely felt the energy level in the building rise then. I think I might have shouted "woop!’ when he made one of his remarks. I’m also sure we all did the same thing and thought, “damn, I gotta go get me some Nike’s!”
Anyway, it was very special. When it was over, no one wanted to be the first to leave. Charlie had to coax Jay off the stage so people would know it was done. Then we clapped. Then someone yelled “We Are” and the whole building answered “Penn State”. That went back and forth a few times, then we clapped again. Then a collective sigh, and maybe the realization that we all needed to go out in the world and get on with our lives. But to be there, in BJC, with the family, with thousands of “Penn Staters”, for those hours, to celebrate the MAN, well, that’s a lifetime memory.

Sunset Park memories...
oh, the wife and I spent a night or two in that parking lot in my “van” back in the day. The one with the “Don’t laugh, you’re daughter might be in here” bumper sticker. How her parents ever allowed me within a mile of her is still a mystery to me.

Fr. Matthew is a wonderful man
“The Father who opened the memorial was unexpectedly good. As he walked to the podium I didn’t have any expectations, and although I can’t recall exactly what he said, it exceeded them by a distance. And it felt right.”
I can honestly say if there is anyone whose integrity and general regard for human beings can come close to matching Paterno’s, it is Father Matthew. As a Catholic who has moved more than a few times in the past couple years and probably went to services with 100+ priests, no one can come even close to matching the power of his homily’s. The other priest at PSU, Father David, is an equally great person.
As a recent grad who happens to be Catholic, I second your praise of Father Matt and Father David. Great priests
they've been there for so long
Fr. Matthew came my junior year (fall 2004 i think). I was really glad to see him still there. he’s a great guy.
Is Fr. David
The priest with the long beard? Every time I went to mass he was the priest. Excellent homilies.
fr. boniface had the long beard
he was only at PSU to get his phD in computer science (he’s probably teaching at St. Vincent’s now). i got to be quite close with him for a while.
The St Vincent guys occasionally sub in at St Richard in Gibsonia
Fr. Fred was a regular before he moved to Detroit, and Fr. Boniface is there from time to time. His beard is still quite long.
Fr Boniface has an interesting life story — if I recall correctly he was an atheist (or at least an agnostic) when he started at PSU.
I'm not even Catholic
But when my husband and I are in State College for games, we go to whatever mass Fr. Matthew is presiding over. He’s one of 2 priests who actually make me enjoy sitting through mass (the other being our presider at our wedding). He always gives amazing homilies that typically get discussed on our drive home (and it’s not exactly a short drive).
I’ll have to tell my husband that Fr. David’s masses are worth going to next time we’re in town on a Sunday.
Smee, my husband and I did the same thing as we were walking out. “What time is it?” “430” “430! There’s now way that was 2.5 hours!”
It was amazing to be surrounded by family and to be in that moment. You summarized my impression perfectly. Thanks.

Yeah
Because not being available to testify something that could, potentially, hurt two individuals in a criminal trial is protecting Penn State. Leaving aside that they would never be convicted of perjury whether Paterno testified or not, that is so horribly devised and so poorly considered that it shocks me that it can even be published on an alternative blog.

In every great sports drama--take Rocky--there's the point where the protagonist is against
the ropes, down, and nearing defeat. And yet, that guy musters the strength for one punch, one match-changing, mood-altering punch that leads to a comeback.
Penn State was down.
But Phil Knight—I cannot believe it as much as anyone else—threw a haymaker that landed square on the chin of every member of the Board of Trustees, every rank-and-file employee of Penn State’s executive body, every asshole who moonlights as a sports reporter, and every waste of sperm that hides behind the anonymous name of a sports message board spewing hate and vile.
Take something away from this, folks: don’t sit back as folks swing away. Land a blow. And another. And another. Because we don’t accept defeat. Because we are down, but not out. And because We Are Penn State.

Such a privilege to be able to attend JoePa's memorial today.
I don’t think I’ve been on an emotional roller coaster like that in quite some time. To see just a glimpse of some the truly inspirational moments Joe has provided throughout his career was truly moving. From more of the inspirational commentary provided by Todd Blackledge, Charlie Pittman, Jimmy Cefalo and Michael Robinson, to a downright ballsy speech by Phil Knight and to cap it off with the heartfelt words by Jay Paterno, this memorial ran the whole gambit. I came away with even greater respect for a man that I couldn’t possibly have respected more. If the entirety of one person’s life like Joseph Vincent Paterno does not inspire you to “make an impact,” I don’t know what else can.

I was fortunate to get tickets...
and the atmosphere was amazing. The speeches were incredible, and the fact that each of the 10 speakers spoke about Paterno, and not one of them pertained to football, and not one of them were remotely similar in context is such a testament to Joe and the life that he lived. Phil Knight’s standing O was only outdone by the one SuePa received upon entering the arena. Saying the Lord’s Prayer at the end was very emotional, I regret not taking tissues, I was in tears the whole time. A once in a lifetime experience that I’ll never forget.
I’m sorry for the fragments of sentences, there’s so much in my head that I want to get out, and can’t type as fast as I think.
For the glory
I was ther too.
I loved every speaker they had. I read earlier on FB that the BOT got a big middle finger in the shape of a swoosh! I was very surprised with the amount of empty seats. Don’t know if that shows on TV but it was shocking. My tickets that I got on line where up graded to the floor. I got to sit about three rows behind the players.
I will never buy anything but nikes now thats for sure. The videos where soooo damn emotional especially the one that they had for Joes400th.
God bless sue and her family for sharing JoePa with us. I never really thought about it in that way but it was a common thread with the past players.

I was in 202 behind the stage and a usher came and gave our whole section floor tickets.

I wonder why some of them didn’t show. Kinda disheartening so many empty seats when there were plenty of people looking for tickets
They didn't show

My girlfriend and I were sitting in 218 and right as they were starting the ceremony, an usher came up to me and asked if we wanted to take floor seats. We ended up a couple rows from the back. Very lucky.
Same way but earlier. We sat a couple of rows from you by the sounds of it.
Once on the floor you could sit where ever you wanted. They told me family up front or fill in where I wanted to. I am not a duechbag so I gladly took a empty seat near the middle toward the back. Walked out with Coach Vandy.

Saw Chambers and Bradley as well. Funniest thing was overhearing a guy speaking with the guy from ESPN telling him that their recent coverage has been much better than other media outlets. Can’t remember the ESPN guy’s name right now, but his response was something along the lines of “there’ve been some varying reports, but we’ve been trying our best”

Have no fear.
After today, you have to realize that the culture is ingrained in the school. Joe’s vision has indeed become the standard. We as fans would never let that be lost. Any coach coming here automatically must understand that or risk a short tenure.

I agree, but we need to be responsible for this.
We can’t just assume that it is going to happen, we have to remain watchful and diligent in making sure it doesn’t happen. I don’t think any coach ever sets out to succeed without honor, but when they’re not able to, that’s when things start taking a turn. That’s why we were so ungodly fortunate with Joe Paterno, he not only was able to achieve it, but to also get every one of us to believe in it and ingrain it in the institution itself.
It is easy to go down into Hell; night and day, the gates of dark Death stand wide; but to climb back again, to retrace one's steps to the upper air - there's the rub, the task.

I don't think we're going to have a problem with diligence and oversight
All the outsiders in the past few months who have called us cultists or whatever don’t realize that the internal distress and turmoil each of us suffered from the scandal was far, far, greater than what anyone in the media or outside could’ve imagined.
For a coach or a group or an administration or whomever that would ever consider doing anything that’s not exemplary of the highest standards of moral character we emphatically say: Never again. Not on our watch.

I am so proud to call myself a Penn Stater.
The entire memorial was perfectly done with Phil Knight and Jay Paterno leading the way. I am so thankful for Phil Knight saying what every Penn Stater has been feeling for the past 3 months. The incredible spirit of Joe Paterno was on hand for the entire ceremony, and it will continue for many many years to come. It is my hope that Jay Paterno stays with Penn State in some capacity. Wouldn’t it been fitting, I don’t know that it is possible, for Jay to be elected to the Board of Trustees. Whether he would want to do it remains to be seen, but it would be something to behold. I am so thankful for Joe, Sue, and the entire Paterno family. The strength and courage that they have shown has beem amazing to see.
We as Penn Staters can carry on JoePa’s spirit, so our chilldren, grandchildred, and so on can have the values that we were so lucky to see firsthand. God Bless all of you. WE ARE!
This week has been something
Grief, mourning, acceptance, remembrance, and love. I’ve gone through so many emotions in the last few days, and I never even met Joe, it really speaks to who he was and what he represented. From barely being able to speak to my father through the tears when he called me Sunday hours after the world found out just to ask how I was doing to now, watching some of these speeches from the memorial several times over and over again, not with sadness anymore, but with immense pride in having had Joe in some capacity in my life. Also pride in my fellow Penn Staters in the fitting tribute to Joe’s life this week has been. From the three or four people gathered around the Paterno statue at 2:30am early Wednesday morning when I dropped by on my way in after work in DC, to the hundreds already in line for the viewing just a few hours later at 7:30 before the gates even opened to the thousands upon thousands who lined the streets to wave one final goodbye to the man who loved us all so much and finally to the packed BJC where a player from each decade spent little time talking about Joe the coach, but rather Joe the person and how much he cared about each of them and their lives. After all of this, I think I’m mentally prepared to move on to a world without Joe here in the physical sense, because I know after everything I’ve seen this week that there is no way his spirit can ever die with the many thousands of people he has touched in his decades of service to humanity ready to carry his torch. After being back at Penn State I was reminded that there is nothing like it in the world and I’m OK being a part of the crazy cult that I affectionately refer to as “Paternoism”.

Finally
I’m currently attending a military course at Ft. Sam Houston and due to the high intensity pace of the course haven’t had an opportunity to grieve for the loss of Joe until today. It’s been just sitting there in the back of my mind all week while I struggled to focus on my A&P exams. Today was my last exam of the week and I was finally able to sit down and reflect on his passing. I watched the memorial and am not ashamed to say I shed more than my fair share of tears while doing so.(Thank you tlrpsu for posting the link) I don’t comment here nearly as much as I used to, but still lurk here plenty. I just want to thank everyone here for giving me a place to go for anything PSU related. And also all the members of the community for sharing their thoughts and feelings. I don’t know what I’d do without a place, “to hug as grown men do.”

Just watched the replay.
My wonderful wife (who is not a Penn State fan) has been so understanding during this week. Over the years, I have spent many Saturdays “ignoring” her. I’ve tried to get her to watch with me, but she just doesn’t like football. Her knowledge of Joe Pa was “that old guy in the glasses.” Thankfully, she understands me, and my devotion to Penn State. On Saturday, she was the one to tell me about the false report. On Sunday, she was the first to say “I’m sorry”, and allow me to try to explain how important Joe was to me once again, and why she should care (to no avail). Being in the Navy has made it difficult to maintain a close relationship with fellow Penn Staters. When I first came to BSD, I found people who, like me, enjoy Penn State football. After November, I found it hard to write anything here. I felt that there was too much arguing between the posters. In my view, we were a house divided. My belief in Coach Joe’s integrity never wavered, which caused more than one argument with outsiders ignorant of the facts and quick to blame. I felt betrayed by my school, angered by the media, and disgusted with the B1G. I wanted to wait until I felt like I needed to post before I wrote anything again. I’m now glad I did. The Memorial Service was just the right thing I needed to put it in perspective. I am so proud to be a Penn Stater. Hearing every story has replenished my belief that Penn State is indeed that wonderful place that I remember. I now realize it wasn’t the football games that made me feel that way. It was the people. Joe might have put us on the map with football, but he made Penn State what it is today with the influence he had on all of our lives. I am glad that my son was able to know who Joe was, and I hope to continue to instill in him the same integrity that I learned from JoePa.

For as far as I could see WE stood. Now as I watch the memorial service I have to wince as I shake my head and say to the BOT, YOU FOOLS! What have you done! All of these lives that Joe had such a profound impact on will drown out any attempts to ever vilify him.

Why was the Big 10 Commisioner there ?
I think that takes some nerve to strip Joe’s name off the trophy months earlier saying they cannot have their trophy named after someone like that only to show up at the ceremony like he’s a friend of Joe Pa. It makes me sick I hate phoneys !!!!

I just cannot imaging the humiliation
that Joe must have felt when they stripped his name off that trophy. I hope Sue or another family member said something to him. He was never a big supporter of PSU, I believe he was one of the people who voted down PSU’s acceptance originally. I could be wrong though.
If you were paying attention yesterday
I don’t think he felt anything nearing humiliation. I really don’t. I don’t think having his name on a trophy would have struck him as all that important an issue in his last few months.
"We gon' get down. We gon' do the do. I'm going to hit these mother****ers" - Dock Ellis, May 1, 1974.
I did pay attention
I am not saying yesterday he felt that way, I am talking about when they 1st announced it then stripped it. I know Jay didn’t like it one bit and he said so, that is why they said if they one it they were going to tape a sign on it saying the JoePA trophy. I think it would have been nice to have a trophy named after you recognizing the Big 10 Champ would have been nice his grand kids would have liked hearing years from not Penn St is playing for the Paterno Trophy. I think Lombardi & his family enjoy his. Just a thought.
I agree with you that it would be a nice thing
for the Paterno family and many Penn State fans. I just disagreed that you framed it as humiliation. I think Joe wasn’t humiliated or bitter about any of that stuff, and that he understood that having affected and improved so many lives and done what he loved and accomplished so much, the honor of having a trophy named after him or not wasn’t something that would really tip the scales in either direction.
"We gon' get down. We gon' do the do. I'm going to hit these mother****ers" - Dock Ellis, May 1, 1974.
Paterno has a very true perspective of his life and accomplishments.
First and foremost was all the lives he’s improved for the better, both the players he coached and molded, to the students who were able to get a high quality education thanks to him. I think in his mind, having his name removed from the trophy, no matter when or how it happened, never even registered on his radar.

This will ramble.
I read an article about how “trolls” ruin the internet. The premise being that if 30,000 people read an article, maybe 300 will comment on it. It was a funny article and it theorized that most people will not put an opinion out there, no matter how well thought out, if it subjects you to being called a fu@#tard. I guess the idea is that a rational human being doesn’t like being called a fu@#tardeven once. Moreover, people who do post, generally don’t post again, because the thought of being called a fu@#tard for the second time is simply too much to bear.
And the article was funny. But how many times did you personally not speak up in Joe Paterno’s defense on facebook because you didn’t want to be called a kiddie rape apologist. How many times did you let it drop because you couldn’t do it again.
For me, personally, it has to be in the 100’s. I’m happy that Knight gave me some cover, but I shouldn’t have needed it.

I'm feeling sort of proud of myself lately
Because I said a lot of things right after that to a lot of people sounded crazy and tone deaf. But in the intervening 2.5 months, I’ve seen a lot of the sentiments I put out there in November being “arrived at” by people in January. The best one was when SportsbyBrooks did a sort of 180 and started posting articles about Paterno from the mid-90’s.
It was hard for people who hadn’’t read those articles or hear those stories about Joe and his involvement and generosity and general goodwill and inclusiveness to understand where a lot of us were coming from back then. But now, even the harshest critics are starting to get some of the context that built the foundation for our arguments. And it makes more sense. I hope they learn a lesson.

I'm referring more to the actual allegations.
I mean, it’s clear that Joe Paterno didn’t “cover up” these allegations. Not “following up” remains debatable, but he heard from Curley, and he talked to McQueary after the fact. Or the one where people say “he kept seeing Sandusky on campus”, which of course ignores the fact that their offices were in totally different buildings, and nobody ever actually saw them together on Campus. And on and on.
It’s exhausting. Somebody says something, and it’s hard to be respectful when your honest answer is everything you just said is factually inaccurate, and it implicates a good man in a child abuse scandal. And seriously, you’re that pissed and you can’t even bother to get your facts straight?
I’m tired. At least for a few seconds I felt that Phil Knight spelled us for a few seconds. And maybe makes it a bit easier to defend his statements when people say dumb shit about it. Which is happening already.

I've defended since day 1.
I’m very proud to say that. Dropped friends, argued with in-laws (good times), fought with complete strangers on Twitter, and Quora (which I still am trying to do). I know I can’t always change minds but if I make my point with class at least I can live with myself.
Saw a study from the Pew group yesterday (not sure if I can link to it as I’m not sure what board link rules are). Most Americans now believe that Joe should not have been fired. It makes me want to scream, but I’m glad to see that public opinion seems to be changing.

Maybe I'm a rube
But I don’t think Knight thought for one second about marketing or timing. I think he really, genuinely loved Joe and that Joe really was his hero. He was really hurt by everything that happened.
If we get to a point as a society where we question everyone’s motives any time they say anything they feel, that makes me kind of sad. Like I said, I can generally feel when someone is putting me on, but I’m not going to give sideways glances when I see someone who is hurting and who has lost their hero go on to say strong things.

If they finally felt how we felt… Surrounded by people who had absolutely no respect for them. I wondered just how miserable they were to be sitting there in our world. I wondered if they were beginning to understand. And as someone said above, I eventually felt sorry for them, because they don’t get it. Because they have never been a part of something like our family, to know what it is like to be a part of something infinitely greater than we will ever be on our own. If they had, their story would have been very different.
Tho’ much is taken, much abides; and though we are not now that strength which in old days moved earth and heaven; that which we are, We Are - Tennyson
Because they have never been a part of something like our family, to know what it is like to be a part of something infinitely greater than we will ever be on our own.
It is hard for many people to conceive of what we’re feeling. If you aren’t a part of it or something very similar, you have no frame of reference. For alumni and fans of many other schools, it’s about coming together to cheer their football team on Saturdays. If that were all it were about for Penn State, I’d agree that this would all seem pretty weird. But it’s not, not by a longshot, and most cannot conceive of the very real, far-reaching connection many of us have.
I felt what I felt yesterday at THON. It stays with you. From the outside it seems backwards and insular, and that’s really unfortunate, because it’s one of the most fulfilling and rewarding experiences of my life.

My girlfriend is running the mountain-leg as a member of The Hope Express.
She danced as a senior in 2006 and is pretty pumped.

Most of those people were just doing their jobs.
A cameraman is a professional, he can’t get emotional or caught up in the moment. That being said, the BTN guy who was there had clearly been crying.
...may we compete with fierce intensity, with the gifts that we have been given...
Yeah, he was so sincere
I felt like at one point he was going to hug Daryll

This sentiment is going to seem weird and come out all wrong
But I sort of feel like that was the end of the game for me and Penn State Football. It’s over, we won. 2 National Championships, 5 undefeated seasons, victory in every major bowl, hundreds of young men prepared for life, hundreds of thousands inspired, now top 50 in rankings as a university. And the football part of it seems so insignificant, that I’m not feeling it as far as renewing my tickets. I’m more interested in seeing justice done to Sandusky, fixing the institutional problems that screwed up the investigation, supporting the new child abuse research efforts, and restoring the good name of the university such that somehow showing up next September and sitting in the stands seems pointless. Yesterday was the victory parade; what more is there to accomplish in Beaver Stadium? The game has ended, book closed, tie a ribbon on the football part of it.
I don’t know, can someone talk some sense into me?
The thing that sucked about the Memorial to Joe...
….is that Tony Pittman looks about 10 years younger than I do…

I just watched the memorial
I didn’t see it mentioned earlier, so I would like to to express my appreciation for Kurtis Cleckner’s solo trumpet performance of “The Nittany Lion”. A very touching conclusion to an emotional memorial.

Yes, well done. I've always thought those single trumpeters to be amazing - breath control in time of stress.
“Taps” at funerals of service members is especially touching to me. I like to sing but can rarely croak out a piece in those kinds of situations.
