Countering the Criticism of Paterno
I was annoyed when I read quotes where some alleged children's advocate criticized Thursday's memorial as insensitive. The above link to the Huffington Post is a refreshing alternative.

There are things I think I know and.....
there are things I know that I don’t understand…..firstly, minds will probably never be changed in this mess; either you’re for it or against it, there is no gray area……Joe was never the “Witness” and was only the receiver of MMc’s testimony; in court, Joe’s opinion would be considered “hearsay”……to send this testimony up the line, so to speak, I can’t believe people blame Joe for inaction or insensitivity…..AND, it’s a BIG AND, in my dealings with Child Welfare Org. and the Welfare system in general, you had better be the witness to a situation or they will ignore you and probably most importatantly of all, the Laptop Anonymous out there that espouse that they would have “jumped into the shower and rescued the boy or would have called in the police”, let me tell you a little tale of stats that show that most people/witnesses don’t do anything at all since most are so horrified that they cannot function properly and don’t report. Unless you are engaged in the exact situation, please don’t tell me about how you would react. This is not an apology, these are the factual stats…..some of you know me from the BSD and some of you know me, period. My sig says it all—-I don’t bullsh*t anyone. And another thing I do know, my staements are not going to change anyone’s opinions. All I do know is that I always believed Joe, because I knew him to be a man of integrity…..I could go on, but…..

Well said
One hope I have is that now people are aware of child sexual abuse and are more fully aware, as the kids would say, that its a thing. So now, when faced with a situation like what McQuery saw, more people might understand what they’re looking at and handle it better.
I don’t blame McQuery for not handling it better especially since he didn’t really see a rape. I don’t understand why his dad was his first call, but that isn’t where this all went wrong.

Yvonne!!
I just saw who wrote this. Yvonne Fullbright went to State High with me. If I had to pick the person from my school least likely to become a respected expert on human sexuality, it would have been her. It’s funny how people can surprise you. But I’ve read a lot of her stuff and she certainly knows her stuff.

Rec'd for cracking me up.
I bet that’s not a category they had in the yearbook awards.
I didn't know her very well
But she was fairly quiet. Not the sort of person I’d imagine routinely talking about something that makes so many people uncomfortable. She’s semi-Icelandic, which is unique. Not many Icelanders in Centre County.

She sounds hot.
If they ever tell my story let them say that I walked with giants. Men rise and fall like the winter wheat, but these names will never die. Let them say I lived in the time of Bradley, tamer of offenses. Let them say I lived in the time of Paterno.
Why yes...
I believe I would want to talk about sex with her.
