More of this to come....(and where is ESPN?)
I figure starting from today (after national signing day) and up until spring ball, we will see a lot more of this type of report coming out. I am pretty sure the nation learned a lesson or two from the university's BOTs, but certainly steps by others will be taken to lesson any impact. Interesting that UofM's admin knew about this in November and only released now....(that football season is over)...

This is my favorite part
“Undoubtedly, we should have done better. Moving forward, we will.”
Tho’ much is taken, much abides; and though we are not now that strength which in old days moved earth and heaven; that which we are, We Are - Tennyson
That sounds humble, apologetic and forward thinking.
Penn State BOT’s should look and learn. What has that PR firm done for us lately?
that sounds absolutely nothing like "with the benefit of hindsight I wish I had done more".

The only logical questions are:
Why did Joe Paterno prevent U-M Health Systems from reporting this sooner? Is it a coincidence that we only learn about this after Joe’s passing?
"WHY IS EVERYONE THE FREAKING STUPID?" BMAN13
This won't get the coverage
Because it isn’t in the Athletic Department. Change out Hospital with Practice Facility and Resident with Position Coach and it would be on ESPN and elsewhere. I’m not sure it would reach the fever pitch your story got, only because the nature of the crime lacks the graphic descriptions the GJP offered.
I do find it intersting they let the inital investigation drop until November. I wonder what story they might have caught on the news that made them reconsider?
what's disgusting about this is twofold
1) that Penn State was accused of making it “about football” when it was the national public that cared more about that sex abuse scandal than any other in the history of forever
and 2) A college football program has much less contact (and intimate contact at that) with children than a pediatric hospital.

so much this.
I think Penn State thought it wasn’t at all about football, and that’s why it was taken so lightly by the BOT. And so many people are saying that Joe was trusted with the welfare of kids, but in reality, that’s most definitely NOT true—almost all were legally adults before getting on campus.
Fire Dan Snyder
to hell with ESPN
shouldnt child porn in a pediatric hospital receive some attention on news sites. I bet there is more on sandusky on CNN.com then this.
and how about Syracuse/Boeheim?
Just read an AP story in this morning’s York Daily Record which says that Syracuse roundball coach Boeheim vigorously defended his longtime assistant Bernie Fine at first because of “two previous claims of abuse against Fine that authorities could not substantiate.”
How is that any different, if not worse, than what happened with Joe at Penn State? People are arguing that Joe “had to know” about the 1998 allegations against Sandusky, yet there has been no evidence produced anywhere that he did. So he apparently was hearing about Sandusky for the first time in 2002. Yet Boeheim clearly did know about previous allegations against Fine. The relevant passage from the article:
“After Davis and his step-brother, Mike Lang, accused Bernie Fine of molesting them when they were boys, Boeheim vehemently defended his longtime friend and assistant coach. He said Davis was lying to cash in on the publicity generated by a sexual abuse scandal unfolding at Penn State University. The Hall of Fame coach later backed off, saying he based his defense on loyalty and two previous claims of abuse against Fine that authorities could not substantiate.”
get this
new reports are saying that Fine’s wife was sleeping with players, also???
say whattttt?

technically she wasn't asleep
and there was another coach’s wife, unnamed, that were comparing “oral notes”
"It doesn't matter what people think of me," Joe said. "I've lived my life. I just hope the truth comes out. And I hope the victims find peace."

i like this
university officials waited six months before filing a report with university police after records show a resident physician found child porn on a thumb drive in the Pediatric Emergency Department.
JUST university police? why not the state police, or governor?
