O'Brien receives warm welcome at BJC
New PSU football head coach Bill O'Brien appeared at the Bryce Jordan Center this afternoon with his wife and child and was greeted rather warmly by the crowd on-hand to see the Lady Lions basketball team host (and lose to) Michigan State.
Most there gave him a standing ovation as he was introduced during a time out in the first half. He then made his way over to the TV table was interviewed.
Many fans saw him waiting for a break in the action in a concourse and approached with a hearty handshake and gave him their well-wishes. His son, who was wearing a #25 football jersey, attracted the attention of the lion mascot, who also gave the youngster a fun welcome as well.
Most of the comments I overheard in the stands essentially were cordial and there were a lot of "we'll wait and see." I would suspect that virtually everyone knows the considerable amount of angst this hiring has caused is not due to him personally.
I then came home and got to read a delightful little missive from this douchenozzle.

Glad to hear
I have my doubts like everyone else, but I’ll pull for the guy. Going against him means rooting for us to lose and that’s not what I want.
Regarding the article, this is my feeling. I’m done. I’m tired of trying to explain facts to people, of expecting an amount of measure or sensibility. I think that needs to be the stance from now on. We need to just stick to changing what we need to in house, continue graduating at a high rate and continue being a world class educational institution. And if people have a problem with that, it’s their problem, not ours.
The "douchenozzle" fails.....
to report on all of the eventful weekends he spent in Sandusky’s basement…..envy is a sin and so is his opportunity to publicly write a column.
"The truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth, so help me God."
Made the mistake of reading that article.
It is so bad I would recommend removing the link. He doesn’t deserve our time.

The Hard Truth
The hard truth he is referring to is that he is a hack reporter writting a internet sports column.
Glad to hear he was warmly received
As much as Joyner’s search may have pissed us off, that isn’t his fault. As long as he continues the tradition of molding our athletes into respectable men, he will have my full support.

Reiter is a douchenozzle
It galls me tremendously that these media hacks are not keeping up with the story. This guy still seems to believe that Joe was told a rape occurred in his building and did nothing about it. Although that’s what the Grand Jury Report implied, it has been thoroughly refuted based on McQueary’s testimony and Paterno’s public statements. Mike testified that he did not use the word rape, sodomy, anal, or any other word that would have suggested intercourse when he met with Paterno. Joe has publically stated, ""If this is true, we were all fooled along with scores of professionals trained in such things…" Paterno also said at the time, "He (McQueary) at no time related to me the very specific actions contained in the Grand Jury report."
As for O'Brien
I’m excited. I would have given him a standing “O” if I was there. I’m anxious to find out who will be retained on the staff.
Screw that
Link. The fan base needs to stop adding to these web page counters. We know what they are saying, the rhetoric hasn’t changed in 2 months.
I welcome BOB myself. He has been charged with pulling us and our team through this mess and getting us to the other side intact.
New coach doing all the right things
I loved the fact that he went to the women’s basketball game (and hope that their loss wasn’t a bad omen). He saying and doing all the right things: praising Paterno, talking about the uniforms, the letter to the football alums, comments about recruiting, committing to keeping the academic and traditions alive, recognizing that this program is a family, keeping LJ (and maybe others on staff). All are great things. If you didn’t see it yet, check out LJ’s interview on the bigtennetwork.com

Douchenozzle is letting the guy off easy...
I thought E$PN was the only group that could piss me off that much. This guy took a page out of Rush Limbaugh’s playbook.
