The Second Mile Sandusky Sex Scandal Blog

The SECOND MILE SANDUSKY SEX SCANDAL BLOG has been published with Blogger and is available for your use and reference. This has been done as a service to my BSD friends in order to archive and make easily available the fanposts that specifically concern the Second Mile Sandusky Sex Scandal.

This is meant to be a service and reference site - and not to detract or take away from Black Shoe Dairies. I appreciate the opportunity afforded by BSD and the people here where my posts have found some acceptance and I don't want to do anything that upsets that.

At this point in order to find a post for reference here on BSD that is Sandusky related a significant amount of time is required to locate those post on this particular subject. I have tried to link all of the recommended post to this location for easier access. If anyone who authored those entries would prefer they not be linked to this weblog just let me know and I will delete those links I have not finished finding all those links at the time of this post to BSD

Star-divide

The Second Mile Sandusky Sex Scandal weblog also offers a comprehensive LINKS LIST to the major reference materials and articles on the interwebs in one convenient location. This is intended as a service to those interested in the posts and information that support Joe Paterno and Penn State against the misleading information from the Attorney General Linda Kelley and her prosecutors, the media, and others.

The Description of the weblog is this:

The misleading Grand Jury Presentment unidentified Victim 2 section and Press Release by Attorney General Linda Kelly ignited a media frenzy making the Second Mile Sandusky Sex Scandal into the Penn State Sex Scandal - That is not accurate or acceptable. The evidence here will inform you of the truth. You can support the brave victims and Joe Paterno and Penn State; You do not have to choose between them.

The stated purpose is this: ARE YOU - PENN STATE?

If YOU are Penn State you have been attacked. The attack has been a media frenzy fed by a lie and misleading statements from the highest offices in the state. Gov. Corbett who launched the Sandusky investigation as Attorney General and his administration in the person of current Attorney General Linda Kelly are responsible for the attack.
  1. The attack came as a completely misleading "victim 2" section of the Grand Jury Presentment and a Press Release that focused on 'victim 2' and the alleged cover up by PSU and Joe Paterno.
  2. The attack is the misleading statement: He SAW a boy being subjected to anal intercourse" told Joe Paterno and PSU officials that is what he saw and they did nothing about it.
  3. The attack is 80% of the press release that focused on victim 2 charges as the most prominent part of a 40 count case when they are the weakest part of the case with no identified victim.
  4. The attack has smeared the good name of your alma mater and a good man who gave 61 years of service to it.
  5. We know these are facts because we can read Mike McQueary's testimony under oath in the Perjury Hearing for Tim Curley and Gary Schultz. Mike did not see anal intercourse and did not say he did or tell Paterno or anyone else that is what he saw.

Since there is no question the Attorney General misled the media and the people with the presentment and press release the question we ask here is WHY?
What was her motive?
Who benefited from this insult?
Why is Sandusky tied to PSU instead of Second Mile where he worked?
Why isn't Jack Raykovitz under investigation for inaction while he and his spouse collected $233,000 a year?

Why did then Attorney General now Gov Corbett accept $25,000 from Second Mile while investigating them?

These are questions this weblog will try to answer.

There was a lot of good stuff posted on BSD over the past two months and it would be a shame to lose track of it so I decided this was one way to archive the appropriate posts and make them more accessible. I would also welcome additional administrators for this effort who could post whatever they would like so just ask and you can be added if you would like to automatically cross post anything to BSD and SMSSS. All I need is a screen name and email address to add you to the authors list. Use my screen name at gmail dot com to request permission.

Please let me know if there is anything you want me to add to the weblog or if you think it would be better to remove anything already in place. Eventually I hope to add every positive pro Paterno pro Penn State article that can be found in order to make a compelling case for eliminating the absurd "Penn State Sex Scandal" moniker made manifest by the AG and the media along with the Board of Trustees.

The hope is we can start to sway some attention toward the actions of the AG, Prosecutors, the Governor, Second Mile, the media and others in order to support the victims while also supporting Joe and Penn State. Those things are not mutually exclusive. I think the more we spread the information contained here and collected there the closer we will come to altering the terrible current public perception created by the Attorney General and her attack on Penn State.

Anyone can use the comment sections beneath the posts on the weblog to offer suggestions or to start discussions of ways to use the information.

AS an SEC guy I want to know

Who’s it gonna be – the TIDE or the TIGERS?

I know PSU played the Tide this year so I suspect the Tide is the favorite here on BSD
Am I wrong?

I like LSU again tonight.

Tough to beat an opponent of that caliber twice, but I just think LSU’s got the slightly better team with a few more gamebreakers.

The depth of both my sadness and anger is unfathomable.

And

Cory Giger – pedophile

How about

Cory Giger smells like bologna?

I think seeing that pop up in a google auto search would cause me a sense of accomplishment.

I'm going to give Cory

a little love, well let’s make that a little “like”.

He defended PSU pretty strongly against Mike and Mike or maybe Colin Cowturd a couple of weeks ago. Whoever was interviewing him kept trying get him to say that Penn State would be a terrible career move. But Cory strongly argued that in a couple of years when we get the Sandusky thing behind us, it should be back to being one of the plum (not for Milt) jobs in college football. He went on to talk about the quality of the university, fan/alumni/student support, good recruiting grounds, tradition, first class stadium and other facilities and the wonderful weather in State College (well he really didn’t talk about the weather). He basically said that whoever takes the job may have the “last laugh” at all the critics.

Take it for what it’s worth.

I still don't like him

but Giger did own up in his article/column about the O’Brien press conference that his question to O’Brien about his college OC experience was poorly worded and that he (Giger) was rightfully called out on it.

I have a legal question

Maybe, one of our lawyers can help explain this to me. I was reading another thread that linked to this site: http://www.pcar.org/policy/statute-of-limitations-child-abuse that explained the statute of limitations regarding Sandusky’s crimes. Apparently the old limitation was 5 yrs, then upped to 12yrs, and is now until the victims 50th birthday. Then they mention it only applies if the victim was 18 on a certain date in 2002. So, what is the statute for any of his victims that would have turned 18 before this date?

by markpsu on Jan 10, 2012 9:40 AM EST reply actions

Seriously, though

How about all of the allegations/stories about JS and his involvement with PSU after 1999? For example, we’ve heard things like (and I paraphrase since the allegations have been so varied):

“JS was in the Lasch gym just a few weeks before the GJ presentment was released.”
“JS was on the sidelines at PSU games this season.”
“McQueary participated in a Second Mile golf outing.”
“JS and Joe Paterno remained good pals.”, etc.

On all of these, some clarification and fact-checking really would be beneficial. If he was at a game, who approved? If he was in the gym, was it part of his “irrevocable” retirement package?

Some of the facts may not turn out to be good for Paterno, Curley or others but they need to be vetted in an objective manner.

by cs93 on Jan 10, 2012 12:47 PM EST reply actions   1 recs

Quite Right cs93

Although I dedicated this weblog to the alternate theory made fact by research – It is far more likely that Penn State and Paterno are NOT culpable or guilty of cover up.

While it is more likely that Second Mile plus Tom Corbett plus the Attorney General and her misleading Presentment/Press Release inspired Media Frenzy are guilty of gross defamation and distraction.

I would still like to look into the issues you mention with an eye to confirming, explaining or refuting

I see no reason JS would not have been working out at PSU up until the Presentment was released. – and I don’t think that’s indicative of anything

I doubt he was “on the sidelines” but I’m sure he would be at the games.- Unless there was some special event honoring ex-players and/or coaches

McQueary did participate in four Second Mile Charity events

McQueary played in and Sandusky coached in the annual Easter Bowl benefiting Easter Seals Central Pennsylvania on March 28, 2002, according to a review of news archives from the time period. McQueary, a former Penn State quarterback, also played in a June 21, 2002, celebrity golf tournament benefitting Sandusky’s charity, The Second Mile. .McQueary played in Second Mile golf tournament again in 2003 and was again on the field for the Easter Seals flag football game, with Sandusky coaching, in April 2004.

JS and JoePa were not "good friends

Thanks for the link to that posting

The part to remember is that points like JS using the facilities seems obvious to you and me, it has to be explained (with simple words) to the hordes that see stuff like that as absolutely damning to the institution. “How could they let him do that??” It’s actually not an unreasonable question, but sadly the BOT’s have let others answer these questions. The fact that they have paid a PR firm for help addressing IT is practically criminal – there are a dozen people on this forum that could have done a better job handling this – with you leading the charge.

Thanks for all you have been doing to help promote honesty and transparency.

Thanks cs93

and I get exactly what you mean about covering things that seem obvious to us.

It’s a difficult line to walk once exposed to so much so often as the dedicated readers here are. We tend to assume things as understood that newcomers have no idea about.

That’s why I included early posts in the archive to give context. At some point over the next couple of weeks I will try to figure out a way to introduce new readers through the steps.

Erickson Confirms

that the BoT knew about the GJ investigation for several months prior to the release of the report. Per Bill Schekner in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette (as re-posted on Philly.com), Erickson told the reporter that, at the time, Graham Spanier had briefed the BoT in either May or July of this year.

As I wrote in another post, Paterno was fired by the BoT, ostensibly because he had not done enough to stop Sandusky, in November, 2011. The BoT knew that Paterno had “failed to do enough” at least as early as May, 2011. Why was it so crucial to fire him in November, after he got the record, and not as crucial to fire him in May or July?

This confirmation by Erickson, of something I hypothesized, a few weeks ago, I believe, lends credence to the position that Paterno was scapegoated by the BoT. I would further argue that, as the University was likely (at least somewhat) worried about possible criminal/civil liability, it is probable that University in-house counsel was aware, as he would have likely examined the subpoena of, at least, Spanier. My question is, what, if any, duty does in-house counsel have to advise the BoT of subpoenas being issued to the President of the University, VP, AD and Head Football Coach? I think, at this point, we need to see the BoT meeting minutes to determine whether, and if so when, the University counsel told the BoT about the subpoenas.

Since it is becoming increasingly clear that Paterno was scapegoated, my question remains why?

by Keith Platt on Jan 11, 2012 11:26 AM EST reply actions   1 recs

Joe was the scapegoat

I think for the BOT, Joe and PSU football were the convenient choices. Joe was one of a kind; He gave his life and money to PSU.

From the 1/11 Post Gazzette interview with Erickson:

The university also received the annual $100,000 gift from Mr. Paterno.
Read more: http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/12011/1202624-298.stm#ixzz1jDwwr64N

To throw Joe and PSU football under the bus is unconscionable to me. This all falls in the lap of the BOT. They mismanaged this situation and I support any effort to get all of them out. I feel the same towards Corbett and Kelly for reasons mentioned by aurabass.

I still can’t get my head around this mess. It’s like I’m in the twilight zone.

Keep up the great work aurabass, it’s appreciated.

Not to get off course here but does anyone know what the annual salary and benefits are for a member of the BOT?
