Another week of college football is in the books and it's time again to try and make sense of the chaos.
And boom goes the dynamite. What did we learn this weekend? You may take West Virginia out of the Big East, but you can't take Big East out of West Virginia as the Mountaineers fall to "the Curse of Vecellio" at Texas Tech. Notre Dame might really be back, because the refs are gift wrapping their victories again. Meanwhile, South Carolina couldn't survive the trip to Death Valley and the contenders are starting to thin out. The BlogPoll is sufficiently bulldozed and is pretty much strewn ash after the top five. Take a look at the ballot and remember, questions, corrections, suggestions and objections are always welcome.
Oregon, Oregon State, Kansas State and Florida jockey into prime positions, the Irish don't get that benefit for obvious reason. Oklahoma and LSU gain back ground they had lost earlier and Texas Tech makes an impressive leap into the poll, because there's not a lot on other resumes to match their latest scalp.Texas and Baylor have summarily been dismissed following their blowout losses. And Penn State? That Virginia loss is an albatross that only an Ohio State victory may be able to cover for. Games of note this week include: Oregon at Arizona State, Kansas State at West Virginia, South Carolina at Florida, LSU at Texas A&M and Northwestern at Wisconsin.
