Success With Hyperlinking Is A Champion Once Again

Your news and notes from Penn State and beyond.

Fifteen straight: The last time the Penn State women's soccer team didn't won the regular-season B1G title, Joe Paterno was still winning games according to the NCAA. With a 1-1 draw against Michigan yesterday, the Lady Lions won their fifteenth-straight conference title dating back to 1997. Coach Erica Walsh's team (15-2-1, 9-0-1) is ranked fourth in national polls and is as hot as any team in the county, unbeaten in their last 11 matches with their only losses of the season coming to #1 Stanford and #5 BYU. The ladies finish up the regular season at Purdue this Friday.

BOB Staying Put: After Saturday night's dismantling of Iowa, the Twitter spin machine started with many questioning how long Bill O'Brien is planning on staying at Penn State with the early success he has had. His agent says the coach isn't going anywhere according to what he told Cory Giger at the Altoona Mirror.

Braxton Good To Go? Braxton Miller left Ohio State's 29-22 overtime win over Purdue on Saturday with an apparent head injury, one that warranted an ambulance ride to the hospital in Columbus. He tweeted Saturday night that he was "all good" and it was announced that he will be available to the media on Wednesday. SB Nation brethren Land-Grant Holy Land has a storystream updating his progress.

Solid Verbal Goes Live: If you aren't listening to the Solid Verbal podcast, you really need to re-evaluate your college football lives. Ty Hildenbrandt and SB Nation's own Dan Rubenstein co-host the twice-weekly show and yesterday, they started doing their Sunday review shows as a live video which will continue every Sunday at noon ET which you can find on their site as well as the main SB Nation page as well. If you are still in bed nursing your Saturday hangovers at that time, their analysis are posted to their website as well for your Monday morning work doldrums.

The Real Analysis From Saturday: Who really cares about the game? BHGP did their analysis of the University of Iowa's police report from Saturday. While there were more arrests for this weekend's game than any before, quantity definitely overrode quality as there was nothing that would directly predict the coming of the Mayan prophecy this week from Iowa City. Oh well, they still have two more home games to make up for it.

Heisman Contenders: The Sporting News has Collin Klein as their #1 as does Adam Kramer (@KegsnEggs) over at Bleacher Report, but more interestingly to Penn State fans is the fact that Manti Te'o shows up in both of their top-fives when Michael Mauti is having a season that is at least on par with the Notre Dame linebacker's. My guess is that it is because the Notre Dame defense largely outperforms their offense, but the debate can be made to put the heart and soul of the Nittany Lions on that list as well.

Best Halloween Costume Ever: If you've paid close attention to my stories, you know that I love Bill Snyder. Well, apparently so does this baby (or at least his parents).

Finally: Because it's Ohio State week...
