The only thing worse than worrying about this Saturdays most anticipated game against Ohio State is: figuring out something to cook for a few OSU fans at a Penn State tailgate. I've got to be honest, aside from those chocolate-dipped peanut butter "Buckeye Ball" thingy-candies they sell at Walmart, I had no grand ideas.
It's lucky for me that I have a foodie friend who lives in Ohio, and, is a rabid OSU fan. Yes folks, she is my friend, so BE NICE. Jill told me about a place in Columbus called The Thurman Cafe, which is ranked in the top five burger joints in the State of Ohio. The photo below (on loan from their website) says it all: Two 3/4 pound beef patties under a half pound of ham and bacon, covered in mozzarella and American cheeses, lettuce, tomato, sauteed mushrooms and onions, pickle slices, pepper slices and mayonnaise. It was created for the bodybuilders who come to Columbus each year to compete in the Arnold (Schwarzenegger) Fitness Classic, and, was featured on an episode of Man vs. Food on The Travel Channel!
SERIOUSLY?
Maybe in Columbus, Ohio, but NOT in my Happy Valley, Penn State kitchen!!!
Women vs. Food = Thurmanator Sliders
(Mel's MANageable slider-sized sandwiches you can tackle for tailgate):
Want fries with that??? The big, fresh-cut, crispy-on-the-outside, fluffy-on-the-inside kind???
Of course you do, and these are not ordinary "French" fries. These are real-deal, twice-fried Belgian fries, referred to in refined French-fry circles simply as "frites"!
I prefer to serve my food in style (while kicking some serious ass at the same time)!!!
