Penn State Depth Chart and Injury Report: Northwestern Edition

Stay connected for news and updates

Bradley Leeb-US PRESSWIRE - Presswire

Penn State takes on Northwestern tomorrow, and they'll do so with as close to a full complement of players as they've had in a long time. It's your weekly look at how the roster shapes up.

Penn State heads into Saturday's game not only on a three-game winning streak, but also a very healthy team. Remember last week when half the starters were probable? Well, now they're all off the injury report.

Aside from the out-indefinitely Mark Arcidiacono and Nyeem Wartman, who's either done for the year or for a large part of it with a bad knee injury, the lone Nittany Lion who's listed on this week's report is Pete Massaro, who's missed the past couple games with a shoulder injury. He's listed as possible, but was a full participant in practice and the expectation is that he'll play.

Not listed, but under some potential scrutiny, is Donovan Smith. He practiced during the week, but apparently hurt his hand, and it was heavily bandaged during open practice. But there's no indication that Penn State's starting left tackle won't be able to play tomorrow.

And as far as the depth chart goes, Penn State's settling in nicely with the pieces it's got--three straight dominant wins don't precipitate too much fluctuation. As always, though, the official depth chart sometimes varies greatly compared to the actual playing time these players will receive--Zach Zwinak might be #3 on your depth chart, (and he's #1 in your hearts) but he's likely to be splitting carries evenly with Bill Belton. And Matt Lehman is the last tight end on the list, but he'll almost certainly get more burn than at least a handful of the guys ahead of him.
