My boss kicked this blog rumor my way this morning. Of course, as a Duke grad he is nervous about where his school is left in the smoking ruins of the ACC. What he found through a few high level UVA boosters (with friends in higher places) is that there is some fact prompting the rumors. However, it isn't the B1G stoking the flames of change this time, it is the Big 12 who has extended offers to Clemson and Florida State.
UVA and UNC in a self-preservation move have contacted the Big Ten about membership. UVA would have to deal with their Elite-Little-Brother and their inevitable move to involve the Virginia Legislature about tagging along. UVA and UNC would have to deal with the $50mil ACC buy out, but that didn't deter UMD. The remaining schools hook up with that enduring hottie - the Big East. Welcome back VT, Miami, BC, Pitt and Syracuse (and ND?).
