Cory Giger of the Altoona Mirror wrote an excellent opinion piece about the harsh sanctions handed down by Mark Emmert. I know that Giger didn't make very many friends during IT, but it's nice to see him picking up on the ridiculous parts of the sanctions. I am hopeful that other Penn State beat writers will pick up on this theme. Maybe, just maybe, some of the sanctions will be removed.
I would also like to see Joe's wins restored. We all know that he won 409 games. To pretend otherwise is pure foolishness. I can live without the bowls. The cut in scholarships is rough. It also hurts kids. It's not like the removed scholarships were give to another school. So essentially about 80 kids over the course of the sanctions who would've earned a free ride will no longer have that benefit. It really hurts economically disadvantaged families.
