At this point, most of you are aware/have read the written fellatio that Rick Reilly performed on BO'B this week. Yes, I will be beating a dead horse, but by god it needs to be said. The cycle of worship coming from Bullshit Mountain is starting all over again. (yes I stole that from Stewart, and no I don't mean Fox, I mean twwl, and the MSM in general)
Now, certainly, I don't think Bill will be around as long as Joe was, and I still think he wants to go back to the pros some day. That being said, the first few bricks have already been laid in the Temple of BO'B, even though the rubble from the Temple of JoePa is still smoking. If O'Brien stays for a few years, and wins something significant after the bowl ban? Good lord. We will have to brace ourselves for another round of the media building up a football coach into a saint.
Is Reilly a world class moron? Yea. Will he be the last person from the national media to contribute to the Temple of BO'B? Probably not. I want to incredulously ask "Didn't these morons learn anything?" but at this point we all know that the majority of journalists in today's media are nothing more than page view salesmen.
How did we get here? More importantly, what can we do about it? I have an immense amount of respect for what O'Brien accomplished this year, but outside of this site and a few others(cultists, represent), reading and hearing praise about him in general just makes me angry. Its always the same praise heaped on to Joe before IT, and its usually the same people that gleefully tore down Joe's reputation after IT.
I don't know. If you made it this far in my rant, thanks for reading. I've been a long time lurker on this sight but never felt the need to post anything because everyone here does a pretty good job of saying what I'm thinking. Hell, even this is nothing more than a post-op on bscaff's article after the Freeh Report came out. Happy basketball season everyone. August 31st, 2013 can't get here soon enough.
