How I feel about Penn State. Hopefully you all can relate.

I don't usually rant so I apologize in advance but I needed to get this off my chest...The other day, I was playing a game of pickup football while wearing my Penn State sweatshirt. I've unfortunately grown accustomed to the gibes and taunts over the last year and usually just grin and bear it. However, on one play I ran up to intercept the ball on defense and some kid accidentally slammed his face into my hip. Completely incidental.

The other kids started whispering "penn state kid punched him in the face. It was penn state kid. What a scumbag." etc. The issue was resolved and may seem trivial to most, but I am so SICK AND TIRED of being stereotyped because of the university I attended. It saddens me that a place I felt such passion and respect for has become a punchline and an eyesore to most of society. It sickens me that I have to look at my diploma hanging on the wall with Graham Spanier's signature on it. It angers the fuck out of me that people think they can judge my character based on a name written across my chest.

The legal process will play out. Justice will hopefully be served to the monsters who pretended to be leaders. JoePa is dead and the football team is on probation. But it's the students and alumni who are forced to deal with the aftermath, probably for many years to come.

This is not a plee for sympathy, save that for the victims of Sandusky's heinous crimes. This is simply a statement of how upsetting it is to see an entire group of people labeled with such a negative stigma for something we had no involvement in or knowledge of. I will always be Penn State Proud. Right now though, not gonna lie, it kinda sucks.
