Not sure if anyone here knows, but curious about the change this coming season. The Big 33 game has, for a while, been a matchup between Pennsylvania High School All Stars and Ohio High School All Stars. I saw an article on one of the OSU sites that the organizers are swapping out Ohio with Maryland. The spin over here is after losing 4 years straight, they decided they wanted to go in a different direction that might let them win. While that sounds somewhat reasonable, it also sounds like someone who is jilted mixed in with some of our well known Ohio arrogance. I did swing by the Big 33 site and saw an article that confirms the switch, but I didn't see any explanation. I was just curious what the real reason was. From that article it is clear PA played MD in the past, so is this just some regular rotation we aren't aware of over here in Ohio? In the end, not a big deal since some coaches have been discouraging recruits from playing to avoid injuries. Despite that, it looks like the Ohio folks are trying to set up an All Star game with Michigan. I think that will be a downgrade, since, on average, Ohio and Pennsylvania have deeper and better talent than Michigan. Not that good players don't come from there, they just traditionally haven't had the same level as Ohio and Pennsylvania. It did allow us to show a little of our well known arrogance and poke fun at the state up north.
