Junior DAY
I love that JR. DAY will be coinciding with THON. This will let parents see that we are more then just the sandusky cloud, or just some football school. The players will be able to see the amount of hype and craziness in the stadium and even see the football players having fun doing a couple skits...i was wondering if anyone knows the actual list of people coming. I know a certian PA tight end will be coming the day before as well as cancelled his osu visit. Burns and others i have read are coming but does anyone know the official list?
this is my first fanpost so I'm not sure if this is what the threads are supposed to be used for. sorry if this is at the wrong spot.

my mistake
i over confidently thought that was implied as 100 percent of the votes, I will remember to make sure to add that for my next poll…i apologize for any issues this may have caused
Not sure we will get a committ
I mean this is really early, and really we are talking about 18 year old kids, and they can be fickle, and change their mind 3-4 times before the next LOI day.

Years ago, when I was touring colleges, I wanted to go everywhere (except Duke)
In these kids shoes – getting the royal treatment and, I assume, very attactive tour guides – I would have a hard time not “committing” on every visit.

I understand Joe not
having Jr day the last bunch of years because he thought focusing on 1 on 1 meetings let the coaches give more attention to each recruit, but you can’t discount the impact that having all these kids on campus together and talking to one another. (unless they are talking about going one state west to play for Satan).

i agree
it has to help to have foster see and talk to other recruits, if they mesh well and get along that has to have an advantage . they also then share a common amazing experience, only big dislike would be if they mention anything scarlet while the coaches might not be within earshot
I like junior day in addition to the one-on-ones, and not as a subsitute for them.
Is there a limit to the amount of exposure coaches can have with juniors that forces coaches to choose one method over the other?

Penn State has had junior days recently.
They’re just not like the kind you see elsewhere. Rather than inviting 200 kids to a Junior Day at Texas, Joe would have four or five weekends where 20-30 kids show up. There are about 25 confirmed guests for this weekend.

Our new recruiting staff is working diligently to secure some post-JR day interviews.
Should be a great weekend. As for commits, I wouldn’t be surprised if we got one or two, but I am also not expecting much. It’s more of a way for these kids to see the place, interact with each other, meet the new staff, etc.

I didn't even realize the dates coincided.
That’s pretty cool, I wonder if they’ll try and stop by THON. I doubt they’d make it on the floor, but it’s a hell of a site from the stands.

the football team will have a skit
so hopefully even if they get inside just for that it will be more of enough to see how tremendous the entire penn state community and atmosphere is
Yeah, it would be great if they made it in for the pep rally.
The BJC will be full then too.
Now I’m even more excited for next weekend.

I hope we have a QB coach in time for Juniors Day
This is a very exciting day if we can get a commit or two out of it, but I dont want to feel like we’re fighting from behind again because we dont have a positional coach for some of the top QBs that are coming for the day.
Burns and Hackenberg need to be able to meet the guy that will be their QB coach on this day.
If we can get one of them to sign and possibly Switzer… It would be so much momentum toward Brenneman and maybe even Robert Foster, who is just absolutely amazing.

payton manning
gets my vote, i know he has no ties to penn state or the big ten, and hes brother just got another ring so thats gotta help motivate him, but man it would be so cool to have him patrolling the sidelines
We have a QB coach
George Godsey

oops
offensive coordinator i meant

Wait a second
This article said:
One spot remains on head coach Bill O’Brien’s new staff at Penn State, as the New England Patriots’ former offensive coordinator searches for someone to coach his quarterbacks in Happy Valley
So is George Godsey the QB coach or what? I have the latest Fight on State mag and they have Godsey listed as QB coach, not this says we don’t have one.
Someone please clarify what is going on with our staff please.

We Do NOT have a QB coach.
Godsey’s deal isnt done. I guess BB wants to keep him in New England. If Godsey isnt coming we NEED to move on and find someone now.

I have a recruiting question
Was is it meant when a recruit has a label of Athlete? Is this someone who could do alot of positions? Just never really saw an answer to what these guys can do.
Freedom is just another word for nothing left to lose - Janis Joplin
my take
is they are athletic enough to play multiple positions but very raw at the position,
1. athlete first quarterback second, means they are really athletic have bad form but can make most of the throws that recruits and coaches look for, but they can run fast, and throw the ball very well for a runner with probably unorthodox mechanics.
From what i have seen it is mostly really athletic kids that run fast, jump high, and in high school can just juke kids all day at any offensive position. but it takes the coach the proper eye and training to coach the kid into a proper spot
Think Bill Belton for one.
Guy could plug in at Running back or Wide out and played Quarterback in highschool.
Yes, a guy is labeled an athlete because he could project to the college level at multiple positions.
Basically he does a lot of things well.
