Jamil Pollard Article in the Post Gazette
I'd never heard this story before. He has had to deal with a lot already in his young life.

Pollard may be my new favorite player.
I find it hard to believe any Penn Stater could read this and not be rooting for this kid to become a monster on the field. Someone who is able to overcome that much adversity can become a true leader.
Maybe he is our Lift for Life adoptee this year?
If they ever tell my story let them say that I walked with giants. Men rise and fall like the winter wheat, but these names will never die. Let them say I lived in the time of Bradley, tamer of offenses. Let them say I lived in the time of Paterno.
I don't think we're allowed to adopt freshman anymore
Something about possible NCAA rules violations for incoming freshman to raise money or something. Maybe someone else can fill in the details that I forgot, suffice it to say its a pretty silly NCAA rule.
Whittle your whiskey around like blazes, t'underin' Jaysus, do ye think I'm dead?

Short form
It has something to do with the fact that they are technically not yet enrolled in school. I don’t think they are even allowed to take part in lift for life anymore.
I am a Penn State Nittany Lion, and I played for the legendary Joe Paterno, and more importantly, I am a man because of it. - Lavar Arrington

Wow, incredible story.
To be able to forgive and rebuild after something like that is just incredible. Good for him, I hope he has an excellent career at PSU and that he gets his degree.
What an amazing young man
I hope he gets his grades up and earns a degree and can help his family.
And if he happens to sack the hell out of a few QB’s that will be great as well.

Was just about to link to the philly.com article
I assume it is the same. That is a truely inspiring story how he can find forgiveness. I am surprised I hadn’t heard [or put the two together] the story before since I have lived in the Philly area at the time. Would assume it was major news.
Reporter: Can you give us a touchdown celebration, one that you would get penalized for?
Moye: I play at Penn State. I don’t celebrate.
Wow. Just wow.
I don’t really care if he plays a down for us. Get a great education, Jamil, and keep smiling! YOU are what Penn State is all about!!

We've said it once, and we'll say it again.
All of our recruits are special, but I have a feeling that this class will be one that we will remember for a long while.
Here’s hoping that he studies hard, continues to show good character and makes everyone proud of his achievements on and off the football field. best of luck Jamil and welcome to a huge family.
I hope for great success
for all members of this special 2012 class, both on and off the field.
What a story
What a sad sad story. As PSU_84 said, I don’t care if he turns out to be a scrub, get that education young man. You deserve a break after that.
During the past few summers I’ve been a camp counselor for kids in grades 7-11. It breaks my heart to hear what some of these kids are having to live through these days. Abuse, lack of caring from the parents, murder/suicide, it’s a miracle they’re able to function at all.
