Food for Thursday: The Groundhog Day Edition!

Sometimes life is just too short to not have fun with a food photo and feel the need to share it on BSD. Today was such a day: "The Inner Circle" of the "Ground Hog Club" sent me a box of groundhog-shaped cookie cutters, an official recipe sheet and a matching groundhog headband to wear while baking cookies. I had so much fun I just couldn't resist sharing this tonight!

I don't know what you cooked for Groundhog Day, but I baked their recipe for "Spicy Groundhogs" and I gotta say, these are fantastic cookies! Punxsutawney Phil even saw his shadow when I took his picture! For the recipe with my step-by-step photos: see Jessedotsmom's Foodie Blog.

I am easily amused, enjoy your evening,

For the glory,

Mel.

Well...

… the first one out of the oven didn’t see too much as he got his head bit off by my husband!

You should have done more.

What did you know, and when did you know it?

I was doing the best I could...

… I’ve never heard of “biting the heads off of groundhogs” before. I was taken by surprise. In hindsight, I probably could have done more.

Legally you might have done the right thing

But morally, not so sure. I will have to judge you know before I know any more information, just to be safe.

You punishment is to post every Thursday new delicious recipies on BSD.

Just hope you think of the victims here!!

Did you call the police?

And not the Harris Township police, everybody knows those guys are clowns. You called the State Police, right?

You mean

That they are not real police.

But calling the Staties…is that enough?

I would like to hear her say she called the State Police.

That would satisfy me.

Calling is one thing

Was there follow up calls to see how the investigation was going?

That is the real question here as well.

I turned the matter over to...

… the proper authorities. People I trust to do a thorough investigation. I really can’t comment, as it is pending.

The matter is being investigated.

As I heard many, many times,

you should have gone to the FBI because the local police wouldn’t handle it properly since JFB is so revered around there. JFB is more powerful than the police.

I just found out who JFB is...

… JFB just told me it was him. Hummmmm….

If ever a "magical force-field of jurisdiction" existed.

It’s Mel’s kitchen. The rules are as random as they are precise. And they are rigidly enforced against everyone, regardless of age, or whether or not you’ve been there before. You can’t be there by yourself, sometimes for years, because you need a good guide to keep you from getting killed. It’s like Afghanistan, with scones.

I swear to god, this is absolutely true. Not only is there “good ice”, there is a specific hierarchy for who gets to use the “good ice”. There is also hidden “good ice”. And that’s just the f@#king ice.

The cops wouldn’t stand a chance.

Longest string of rec's ever!

I’m sorry, but blanket statements are proven false 99% of the time, and if you make a blanket statement about college football, there’s a good chance that one exception will be Joe Paterno. - AdamShell @ BSD

I am going to try to work the phrase "groundhog wonderful" into a conversation.

Thank you.

You read the post...

Yes, “groundhog wonderful” would be an interesting expletive phrase to insert into all sorts of sentences!

I'm going home and trying to make these without fat.

And then jogging them all for myself because I’m not good at sharing. They look adorably delicious.

I'm big on low fat cooking/baking.

I had gall bladder problems but refused to stop eating yummy things. I usually replace butter and oils with apple sauce, but it tends to give cookies the texture of a dense pancake. I think they’re still good, but I have college student taste buds.

Groundhog chili

My dad smoked a groundhog and then made a batch of chili out of it last summer. It was some sort of Bill Murray-esque revenge for damage inflicted upon his garden. Sadly, I did not get a taste of the results – I am assured that it was quite good.
