I checked Twitter this morning to find that Tom Bradley is offering to take four people to breakfast in Pittsburgh on him. As a big Bradley fan for a long time, it was representative to me of the man I was always confident that he was -- giving, respectful, well-intentioned.
Then I noticed something that made me sad: @TomBradleyPSU has dropped the "PSU." I knew it was obviously going to come at some point, but it still made me sad. There was so much focus placed on him taking over as coach, and once the Bill O'Brien hire was made, Scrap faded into the background as yet another piece of collateral damage of the scandal.
I met him once at a fundraiser and was very impressed; he made time to have an actual conversation with everyone who was waiting to talk to him. He told me about playing for Penn State with his brother and what it was like to run out of the tunnel, something that I'll never do but always wanted to. He is a class act.
Where do you want to see him end up? I'd heard some rumblings that he might be offered an assistant job with the Steelers (his brother is the team orthopedic surgeon, I believe, and I've heard rumors that he and Dick LeBeau are close), but that never panned out. All in all, I just want to wish the guy the best. Like Andy Dufrene, Bradley has crawled through 500 yards of shit-smelling foulness I can't even imagine... hopefully his "coming out clean on the other side" allows him to keep doing what he loves.
