Joe Paterno's Life Should Be Judged in Shades of Grey, Not Black or White
Nice piece of (level-headed) writing from someone with a unbiased stance.

I only see him in black and white.
Black shoes, white shoe laces. Black coke bottle glasses, white socks.

Kind of sad that this needs to be written
And this doesn’t just apply to Joe Paterno. I don’t understand why people can’t see the nuances and gray areas of life. The world and human beings are very complicated, but so many people want to think things are either one thing or another (*cough*BrianCook*cough*).
Because thinking is difficult.
Unfortunately, this has led to polarization and dogmatism, because the people who are too lazy to think for themselves are also unlikely to acknowledge their ignorance. Look at most political topics and you’ll find a lot of people on the extremes, and very few voices in the center. I’m not trying to say that this represents the population as a whole, because I think most of the moderate voices have stopped wasting their time. Unfortunately, what you are left with are people who become dogmatic in their beliefs because they were unwilling to think and instead just believed what they were told, trying to claim that they are experts on something they know nothing about.

I think Brian Cook is a tool.
Not some kind of ‘just a little bit of a tool’ either. He’s a black-as-midnight manifestation of toolishness.
