Except it's not, really. I don't have a smoker and I don't have an old fashioned hickory pit like my grandfather made (that reminds me, I need to get those pictures from my aunt to scan and post of my grandfather barbecuing). But I wanted to try to make pulled pork this weekend. I found a lot of recipes for cooking it in a crockpot, so I figured I would try that. It won't technically be BBQ because of the way it's cooked. I put liquid smoke in to give it the BBQ flavor, though (hopefully).
Now, the next question is, do I try to replication my grandfather's (or probably more accurately my grandmother's) homemade BBQ sauce? No one ever wrote it down. I know what the ingredients were, but not the proportions. It's also probably been about 15 years since I had it, so who knows if I even remember exactly how it tasted. So it may just end up being Paige's homemade BBQ sauce. Should I put force the effort? Discuss.
And as usual, this thread is to talk about anything and everything, and the more tangents, the better!
