Checked my computer this morning and found two items of interest: One is a story about a poll of Penn Staters on the trial, Joe, and similar matters. This story is found here (asking for assistance again in making sure the link works):
That pool seems to reflect many of the attitudes and positions shared by BSD readers/posters, so please read and CALMLY share opinions.
Secondly, in my e-mail was a letter from Karen Peetz, BoT president. While I am not including it in its entirety here, it seems the Bot might be starting to get it: She writes:
For all of us who serve on the Board of Trustees, our greatest priority is
maintaining Penn State's long-standing qualities of integrity, responsibility,
service to the community and excellence in academics. (Emphasis added.)
That they speak of maintaining, rather than previous announcements to achieve, high standards is, imo, an improvement and recognizes that many people were upset that our wonderful institution was being talked about (in the immediate aftermath of IT) as two steps below a mail-order diploma mill.
Please let me know if I need to copy the entire letter.
Feel free to improve this post. It's important we know how fellow Penn Staters think and how the BoT perceives itself and, more importantly, us who cherish Penn State.
