As most, if not all of you, know by now, the Freeh Report will be released to the public on Thursday, July 12, 2012 at 9:00 A.M. The staff here at BSD understands that this is a highly polarizing and emotional topic for most of our community. We also understand that the release of the report will, in all likelihood, pour unneeded gasoline onto the already out of control fire that surrounds this story. To that end, we are setting forth the following policy regarding the release of the Freeh Report.

Beginning at 8:00 A.M., we will begin an open thread, so that members of our community may comment on the impending release of the report. We will also post a direct link to the Freeh Report at that time. We will also continue to allow comments on said report by members of our community. However, there are a few restrictions we must implement to ensure that the discussion does not turn into the fight scene from Anchorman: (1) We will not allow any fanposts on the Freeh Report. All comments will be contained in one single thread and, perhaps, one overflow thread; and (2) We will be extra vigilent in ensuring that all comments are respectful and within the realm of decent internet behavior. We will not allow the conversation, emotional as it is, to devolve into chaos. Accordingly, we will be monitoring all comments related to the Freeh Report and will not hestitate to break out the ban hammer on anyone we, as a staff, feel needs to go to the naughty corner for a while.
