This is a great article I saw on twitter by Ray Ratto, a journalist from out in San Francisco area. Someone is finally saying what we have all been saying.
We are hated for "defending" Joe Paterno. Few, that I have seen, defend his (in)actions. Our defense of him is that, of all people, you are focusing your anger at the wrong person. We are hated for "defending" Penn State Football. The truth is, we are defending Penn State football because it is, quite wrongly, the focus of everyone's definition of "Justice."
This article almost perfectly expresses what I have been trying to say to those who called me a "homer" or told me I had my "head in the sand." Do I have a problem with the reactions of the Penn State administration and Joe Paterno, of course I do. But why the focus on this whole thing is Penn State football and Joe Paterno, when they are merely nails in the mansion of inaction, is just a misallocation of the nation's frustration and anger.
