The Rivals network updated their list of top recruits over the past two days (the Rivals 100 came out yesterday, the expanded 250 player list today) and Penn State recruits were featured four times on the list. The full list can be found here.
Christian Hackenberg, Adam Breneman and Garrett Sickels were all included in the top 100 (#42, #56 and #65 respectively) and were all given the distinction of OMGUGUYZ 4 STARZ recruits. Offensive lineman commit Brendan Mahon made the top 250 cut, receiving a four-star ranking at #130.
A couple of former Penn State commitments also made the list. Defensive tackle Greg Webb, who decommitted two days before the NCAA announced its sanctions against Penn State and flipped to North Carolina, is ranked at #121 while Dorian Johnson, the former offensive line recruit is ranked at #187.
Hackenberg is listed at the fourth-best quarterback in the new rankings, coming in behind Max Browne (USC), Shane Morris (Michigan) and Tyrone Swoopes (Texas). He moved up from No. 153 after a strong performance in this summer's ESPN Elite 11. Regarding Breneman, Mike Farrell, the lead recruiting analyst at Rivals, tweeted that the top tight end did not receive a fifth star due to the ACL injury that will keep him out of action during his senior year.
So, yeah, take the rankings as you will. They will be updated in November when we can all complain and over-analyze them again.
