If you've got a garden, and even if you don't, you can't miss that basil and tomatoes are available everywhere. If you're a Penn State fan, and even if your aren't, you're reading BSD because you're counting the minutes until the start of the college football season. For all of you "eaters of vegetables" and college football fans...
Orecchiette Pasta w/Basil-Tomato-Garlic Sauce! This spicy, UNCOOKED sauce takes less than 5 minutes to make in the food processor (and gives ordinary pesto a run for its money). My chilled sauce gets served over hot, buttered pasta. Sound good so far?
Well, I'm practicing for tailgate next week and my favorite thing to serve with this pasta is grilled shrimp... the bigger the shrimp the better. My rule: Next to a sharp knife, a keg of beer, and, a pound or two of bacon... a grill pan is the #1 item every tailgate chef should never leave the house without!
Now my foodie friends, as we await next weeks kickoff, let's settle in with some "end of Summer comfort food"!!!
