I know many on this site are aware of the Emmert hypocrite clause below, and I am not opening up the NCAA sanctions need to be appealed thing, but I had Emmert's clauses made into a t-shirt (it is too much writing for a t-shirt and I am editing it down as we speak) because his gross abuse of power still infuriates me and I thought I would put it in a fan post in easy to compare form:(Sorry in advance if you already did this-I cut and pasted this from the Penn State Clips site post of one "Trader Kevin" after previously verifying the 1999 quote came from a December 3, 1999 article in the Advocate, a Baton Rouge, La. newspaper):
"One of the grave dangers stemming from our love of sports is that the sports themselves can become "too big to fail," or even too big to challenge. The result can be an erosion of academic values that are replaced by the value of hero worship and winning at all costs. All involved in intercollegiate athletics must be watchful that programs and individuals do not overwhelm the values of higher education." Mark Emmert NCAA Hypocrite 2012-on Penn State Sanctions
"The critical role of our football program is clear: it is of vital importance to the entire community: Our students, our fans and alumni worldwide and the state of Louisiana. Simply put, success in LSU football is essential for the success of Louisiana State University." Mark Emmert LSU President 1999
