I think this may explain some of the differences between how people see the world. We see in essence what we are looking for. Those that see Joe as honorable and forthright are going to see the actions that portray him this way... Those that see him as a fraud will only see the actions that frame him this way. I think the differences we see in how people argue about it says a lot about a belief that people may be noble, may be good. If you think everyone is fake and horrible, then you will see them that way. If you see people as basically genuine, then you will see them as genuine. It then becomes no secret why Penn Staters generally become apologists... we tend to believe in noble goals.. ideas to shoot for... things to strive for. and it also explains most of ESPN as well...
