Fran Ganter Retires - Post Gazette

The only Assistant Head Coach that Joe Paterno ever had is calling it a career after 46 years at Penn State.

Fran Ganter came to Penn State from Bethel Park, PA as a freshman running back in 1967. He was a member of the back-to-back undefeated teams of 1968 and 1969, graduated in 1971, and joined Joe Paterno's staff that fall coaching freshmen. Frannie, as all fans came to know him, became offensive coordinator in 1984 and was named Assistant Head Coach in 2000. He moved away from the sidelines in 2004, becoming Associate Athletic Director, the position from which he'll officially retire Thursday, February 28th.

Congratulations, Frannie, and thank you for all of your outstanding work on behalf of Penn State. You've created more wonderful memories than you know.
