NCAA says that the Pennsylvania government has no standing to sue in the case.
On Thursday, lawyers for the NCAA filed a memorandum in United States District Court looking to dismiss suit filed by Governor Tom Corbett and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, saying that the plantiffs have no standing in suing the collegiate athletic association.
The memo contends that the sanctions levied against Penn State are not an anti-trust issue and that Penn State is unjustly trying to make a federal case out of a intra-state dispute.
I'm not part of the BSD legal team, so I can't elaborate on what the wording of the memorandum all means, but hopefully one of our esteemed lawyers will have their take after reading through the NCAA's response. For now, StateCollege.com has some of the main talking points that should be observed.
Below is a copy of the document for those who have not seen it yet.
