Sometimes I get sick of listening to ESPN's Colin Cowherd dissing the B1G as a weak conference. But there is no dodging the fact that the NFL draft bears his criticisms out. Only the Big 12 was worse among the major conferences when looking at the number of drafted players. Here are a few titbits from the draft that stand out.
Number of Players Drafted
Bama and LSU had 9 each, Georgia and Florida had 8 each, and S Carolina had 7.
Just to prove that it is not an SEC thing, Florida State had 11, Rutgers and Notre Dame had 7 each, Oregon and Oklahoma had 6, UNC and UConn had 5 each, all more than any B1G team.
By the way, the B1G leader was Illinois with 4 picks. (Barf)
These numbers are, I am afraid, further evidence for the argument that the quality of competition in the Big Ten last year was not as good as it had been in past years.
