Storytime with Brutus & Modern Wrestling Media

I dig the wrestling era we live in. Dig it. Sick amounts of free shiz: vids, streams of live action at free or reasonable prices, chats out the yang, free AS (as our Aussie readers might say). Accessible. Like, you could be reading blank writer on the internet for years, tell him/her you'll be attending blank event same as him/her, would they like to meet for a drink (brewish or teatotalish), and they'd be all like yeah. Also still a little petty; you know, like good internet is wont to be. A little pioneering, like coaches and wrestlers experimenting with social media, like when Minnesota rising Junior 2x AA, 1x Finalist, Dylan Ness sent this taunty tweet to Cael Sanderson, Nico Megaludis & David Taylor.

But I'm here to tell ya.

It's got it downsides, too.

Even when breaking great news.

Like who might be redshirting for Ohio State this year.

Case in point, this flowrestling.org article by Willie Saylor which, whether de rigeur or not, distracted me to the point of counting with its brief-sentence paragraph structure. The whole style is so hideous it almost makes me want to look up fooge to ask what the fuck is being taught these days. I still have trouble imagining the meta discussions behind the scenes that lead to such presentations, but I'll save the rest of my bitching til after you read the sentence counts in each of these fucking 'paragraphs':

It's on me from here on out, right? To change my consumer behavior. Like Steve Jobs taught us, right? I use firefox with an adblocker, so I don't know what's being pop propped on the outsides of that content. But I see 3 Flo widgets in Sidebar Right, then 3 widgets for Twitter (empty in my browser, not logged in), Facebook & Flo comments. After that, I still scroll about 35-45% of the article's vertical height, with no sidebar content. I know there are bsd'ers in the know abou this shiz. Please, please tell me the webby benefits of such a style. Beyond that, please edumacate my dumb ass on the journalistic benefits of such style. Because it's lost me on this one.

Anyway, if you're still at all interested in the content, Ohio State wrestling coach Tom Ryan has confirmed a few changes for next year's lineup. 125 pounder Johnny DiJulius moves to 133 to allow star recruit Nick Roberts in at 125. 2x National Champ Logan Stieber is moving to 141 and brother Hunter is redshirting. At 149, 2012 4th place AA Cam Tessari, held out of Nationals for an undisclosed offense this past March, is now gone from the team. To save you surfing those 22 paragraphs of brief-sentence content, I'll tell you: reasons for his non-continuance are not disclosed. In comes 5th year SR Ian Paddock, who stepped in admirably at B1Gs & Nationals, despite qualifying most of the season at 141. We know 197 pounder Andrew Campollatano is out as a result of that huge drug bust (for which he has since had his particular charges dropped) and Ryan also confirmed that brohawktastic Nick Heflin is bumping up two weights from 174 (coughEdRuthcough) to go at 197 to replace him. The middle weights are to be filled by super-athletic mehs: unicorn fodder Josh Demas, soon to be sore-necked Mark Martin and underwhelming Central Dauphin product Kenny Courts.

Most of that should be filed under who gives a shite for Penn State fans, certainly for the 2014 championship season. But brutus has two very promising top recruits in Nathan Tomasello & Bo Jordan (unable to be swayed to State College by an earnest Cael Sanderson), who will be redshirting along with the younger Steebler, which makes their squad a very interesting competitor in the post-Ruth/Taylor 2015. Can former Iowa star & B1G coaching hottie Tom Ryan further develop this talent enough to compete for a title in 2015, or will they be stuck filling a 95% sentence-to-paragraph ratio in all future writeups?
