Media piling on Urban Meyer

I fully realize that Urban Meyer is not the most popular figure here at Black Shoe Diaries, but he seems to be this summer's college football media target. It seems like the media expects these coaches to have full and total control of the off field actions of their players and coaches. Some yahoo on yahoo goes on a rant about Meyer's "holier than thou attitude."

Wetzel piles on about the Aaron Hernandez story. "The fact he coached Hernandez gives him an enduring black eye." I think it is really weak to connect Urban Meyer with the alleged crimes of Aaron Hernandez several years after both left Florida.

Unfortunately players get arrested and arrested too often in the summer. They are on summer breaks and do all sorts of stupid stuff. Why must the media insist on blaming the coaches for the actions of their players? I have a former student who is serving life in prison for murder. Is that my fault? Should I be blamed, too? I would like to know if Dan Wetzel knows or is connected to anybody who has committed a crime. Maybe he works or has with a pedophile. Maybe his brother or cousin has assaulted somebody.
