Preseason Prediction - Troll Squatters

As we all greatly anticipate the imminent start of the 2013 college football season, I’d like to take this opportunity to both think back on last season’s less than welcome guests on BSD as well as look forward to new shit-slingers. Think back to the great antagonists, baiters, and straight-up assholes. Who individually or what fanbases have really left a mark? Who or what fanbase will be the next great one?

One fanbase that stands out for me from last year is jNW. Everyone who watched the game and was also on BSD saw some crazy antics come down from the purple. Their assholery seemed to roll in out of nowhere! The team taunting the crowd, the Pat Fitzgerald/BOB fun, and then the Interwebs adventures! I remember my stages of response going something like this:

1)Surprise ("What? jNW is doing what? Taunting the crowd at Beaver Stadium? And they actually have participating members on their blog?")

2)Amusement ("Oh, those crazy Wildcats! Thinking that they aren’t going to blow this lead!")

3) Incredulousness ("Really? That wasn’t a goof? The team is still acting like idiots on the sideline? And their fans are talking lots of shit?")

4) Flat-out anger ("jNW is a bunch of assholes! I used to respect those guys!")

I watched normally calm, high-road-taking BSD regulars get pushed past the brink because of how out of hand those guys were. jNW fans! It was unexpected to say the least. For what it’s worth, I still like jNW.

That was just one that really stood out.

However, no matter what happens on these crazy boards, BSD is one conditioned group. There is no fanbase in the world more well-equipped and prepared to isolate and neutralize an unwelcome pest. I love watching it happen.

Enjoy the season, everyone. Let’s go PSU!

P.S. – Totally unrelated topic. BSD has ruined me. I can’t go to the Corner Room and not think about Rick Neuheisel…and then look around for him.
