O'Brien to call the plays in Houston

Battle Red Blog is reporting that Bill O'Brien will be calling the plays for the Houston Texans. I am not surprised by this, but I believe it is a mistake. Just like I believe his decision to leave Penn State for Houston was a mistake. I loved his play calling when it worked, especially the NASCAR offense and when he was smart enough to feed the ball to Zack Zwinak towards the end of both seasons. But there were times when I wondered what in the world was going on in his mind. That loss against Indiana in Bloomington really stands out. That was a no doubt about it bad loss. O'Brien is the one to blame for not running the ball often enough. I'll be rooting for him (except for the times Houston plays Pittsburgh) and following him closely, but I think he may have bitten off more than he can chew with this job in Houston and this decision to call the plays.

Now that Penn State has hired Franklin and we all seem to be pretty pleased with the hire, I would expect many of us to wish O'Brien well in Houston. What do you think about his choice call his own plays? How long do you think he'll last in Houston? McNair has a history of being a very patient owner so O'Brien has that in his favor.
