Four Penn State Players Charged with Criminal Mischief
According to the Daily Collegian, Brent Wilkerson, Garrett Sickels, Anthony Smith, and Wendy Laurent were charged with criminal mischief earlier this evening. According to the reports, an incident occurred between 10:36 and 11:18 PM at Beaver Hall, last night (which was, coincidently, Mischief Night). While it sounds like it could have been significantly worse (it sounds like they were just throwing eggs at a wall), it's still not a good thing to see any student athletes receive criminal charges of any nature. Through Assistant AD Jeff Nelson in an email to Black Shoe Diaries, James Franklin had the following quote to offer on the subject. "We are aware of the egg throwing situation that occurred Thursday evening and will determine the appropriate measures for the four squad members involved." This is especially disappointing to see from Wendy Laurent, who turned in an admirable performance last week when called into duty under center, and was probably in line to see more time on the field. We will have to wait and see what comes of this, and hopefully will have more clarity on a punishment soon.
